Hi guys. I'm in the market for another 9mm. I recently sold my FEG Hi Power clone and now have an empty slot in the vault. This pistol will be primarily for range use/fun but I would like one reliable enough that I could trust it for SD if necessary. I'm looking at doing some combat shoots/competitions as well. (my range hosts them. more fun than serious competition) Any of those listed below I'm sure are far more accurate than I am. Currently I have a Beretta 92FS sleeping in the nightstand.

Here are a few I'm considering:

Glock 17 or 19 (yes, I'm thinking of crossing over to the dark side)
CZ 75
Sig P228
Springfield XD

I'm open to other suggestions. Price is not my primary concern but I'd like to stay in the 500ish range. Thanks for the input.

Of the ones on your list my favorite is the P228. It is the perfect combat/carry size 9mm IMHO. It has as good a DA/SA trigger as any on the market. Bore Axis is a bit high and it is "bigger" than the G19 but smaller than the CZ75B or 92FS.

A used BHP will cost you right around $500 if you shop smart.... This Izzy was well under that.

Have you considered the PX4? I never really cared for the space agey looks but it fits great in my hand, its surprisingly comfortable to hold. Don't own one though so I can't say anything for reliability/accuracy.

And I'll throw in another vote for the CZ-75. Or a clone of it (EAA Witness Match).

The Glock 19 has performed well for me. Coupled with the right holster and ammo you will not go wrong.

Of the ones on your list, I own two:

- an XD (though mine's in .45, I've shot the 9mm, which was boringly similar ;))
- a Cz-75

Have shot and enjoyed the Sig and Glocks, and there's not much *bad* to say about either of them, IMO, or any of your listed options. You'll find detractors on almost any brand, it's true, but you can't take some of the detractors too seriously: they got burned, or imagined they did, and now matches are the enemy ;)

If I had none of them, and all guns cost the same, I believe the one I'd get is the Cz-75, and in particular I'd get it in stainless ;) (Mine is blued.)

Everyone has different hand geometries and preferences for things like grip shapes and sight pictures, so you might not find the same, but for me the Cz is not just the "poor man's Sig" (a description I've always liked) but actually the better feeling, between those two. My XD is perfectly nice, has to my memory never bobbled a round, but doesn't interface with my hand quite as well. Completely and happily acceptable, mind you, just not as good as the Cz. (Which contradicts some Received Wisdom re: the Cz, since I have smallish hands, but whaddya do?)

Good luck!

CDNN just got a shipment of police trade-ins SW 6906 and are selling them for $329.....mine looked new......they are still selling the 5906 for $299 again a few of us at THR purchased them and have had no problems with our purchases.

Can always by some current production pistol but these are keepers in my humble opinion.

Take a look at the Ruger SR9-C, I bought one two weeks ago and I love it. The ergo's are perfect for me, I have smallish hands. Its very accurate, recoil is very mild and it fed the first 75 rounds without a bobble.
