Folks,

I have a Winchester 94 in 30-30 and the previous owner put a sling swivels on the butt and forestock. I am interested in a good sling for off-hand shooting, but have no real experience with the varieties of material and style. It seems like the good military-style slings have some other method of attachment. I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

I’d recommend a Turner sling is you’re looking at the Mil type slings; excellent quality and once you learn how to adjust it properly they work like no other. The only problem is they’re made primarily for longer rifles like M1As and Garands. Also you’d need to use 1¼ wide sling swivels I believe.

Also take a look at their Mil sling faq page.
