For those that use a Military or Whelen type leather sling, which do you prefer, the 1" or 1.25"? I've been using a Montana sling a long time in 1" and I like it a lot, but I think sometimes I'd prefer the 1.25" but, IDK, never tried one??
I've been using the same sling with QD Swivels and switching to preferred rifle. But I want a good one for permanent on my Tikka M65 30-06 wood & blued old rifle?

Inch and a quarter works well in competition where position stability and good control of the gun in prone and sitting positions is essential to good scores, but for hunting, where, at best a 'hasty sling' is a possibility, the one inch version is more than adequate. YMMv, Rod

I have both 1" and 1 1/4" Montna slings. Bought the wide one 1st. A year later ordered the smaller one. I use the smaller one more often. The wide one is a help on heavier guns and most of mine are relatively light.

My 1" sling is ideal for my 30-30s and even used it a lot on couple 22's, I've had it probably near 15 years. But I'm considering the 1.25" on my 30-06, it Weighs 9 LB as does my 270.
