Been looking for a new rifle in a 243 caliber. Will be used for hunting both varmints and deer and target shooting.

I came across this one today and really like the features and look of the gun.
Remington Model 700™ CDL "Boone & Crockett" in a 243 http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/premier_dealer_exclusives/model_700_CDL.asp

Anyone out there have any feed back on this rifle good or bad give me what ya got? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

I do not have the CDL Boone & Crocket but that is only finish and stock. I do have a 700 in .243 and love it, mine is 100% killer. Pretty much they ask me where is it at if they hear me shoot mine, not, did you get him.

If you tinker the Remington 700 is by far the way to go. So many goodies out there for it your head will spin.

If you do plan to tinker go with the SPS and start out with a less expensive gun and tinker her up, that is what I did.

1. Purchased a ADL for $300.00 2 years ago.

2. Purchased laminate take off stock of ebay for $60 shipped (have to be patient and keep looking)

3. This year purchased VS SF II take off barrel online for $60.00 and will get it installed for $175.00.

So I now have a VS SFII for $595.00. Not to bad, I reckon and I had the fun of tinkering with it.

I think you've made an excellent choice. The new CDLs are attractive and Remington has a reputation for quality and accuracy out of the box. The .243 caliber is good for either deer or varmints and has low recoil so it is pleasant to shoot. The one thing you might want to consider if you do much target shooting in taking it to a smith for a trigger job to lower the poundage down to 3-3.5# if it feels a little heavy or creepy. Typically about a $25 job.
