Affordable 22LR (Lowest shipped pricing)

While I do not have a crystal ball, in previous shortages, 22LR pricing bottoming coincided with reloading component surplus and drop in price.

And neither do I, but with the general shortage of ammo not in popular demand I don't see that happening soon.
I started a thread on another site before O's first term. Reading back there is a 2 year cycle of tightening supplies and a 4 year cycle of shortages going back over 14 years.
Everyone can roll the dice as they see fit. I never felt there were shortages ...

Bucking Horse Outpost decreased the price of Federal AM back down to $18.60/325.

If anyone has any good experience using any of the above in say a Junior Pistol type casual match with a Beretta M9-22, please PM me? Kid is thinking of joining, that's the pistol I have for him to shoot currently, and I'd like to get a good bulk lot of something known to shoot POA/POI consistently.

PMs sent with reference to US AMU Pistol Marksmanship Training Guide and links to trigger control / neutral grip / dryfire exercise (Use spent 22LR casing) to not move the front sight away from target.

UPDATE: It's been 4 months since price hovered just below $30/500 but some are starting the continued fall. :D:thumbup:

Will we return to $20/500 shipped on this shortage? Perhaps we break $25/500?

FYI, I am not restocking my 22LR stock YET. ;) I am still on the fence watching the price trends closely but recently did buy 10+ brands/weights/lots of 22LR for updated comparison accuracy testing at 50/100 yards with addition of dedicated 22LR upper from BCA for 35+ brands/weights/lots testing on this thread AS SOON AS never ending rain season stops - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...cheap-bulk-22lr-ammunition-comparison.908102/

Also, no longer going to post "bolt action only" ammo.

Pretty lucky I guess here in NC Arkansas. The local wally Worlds have Fed auto-match for just under 24 bucks per 325 box. Been reliable / accurate for me and the kids in the high round guns.

So with next year's political arena who's stacking it high and deep while cheap?
If you are in need of 22LR "right now", prices we are seeing has been lowest since Covid panic shortage so buying some to shoot may not be a bad idea BUT I would not do a massive stock piling yet based on past several shortage, especially the last shortage where recovery came in steps with pauses before we hit bottom pricing of $14/500 shipped - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-than-15-20-500-shipped.853059/#post-11166197

For the last shortage, I started monitoring 22LR price trends in August of 2017 when prices fell from $50/500 below $30/500 with "22LR for less than $30/500 shipped" thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ammo-for-sale-under-30-for-500-rounds.825048/

And when prices fell below $20/500 shipped in June 2019, I started "22LR for less than $15-$20/500 shipped" thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/22lr-for-less-than-15-20-500-shipped.853059/

Some suggested we stock up when price fell to $20/500 but after watching the 22LR prices fall and rebound through several shortages, I waited till July of 2019 and started stocking up heavy at $16-$18/500 - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...15-20-500-shipped.853059/page-2#post-11170260

For this shortage cycle which started in 2020, we have been circling around $30/500 for 4 months and recently started to fall again. While I am not against buying Armscor/Magtech 40 gr LRN at $26.50-$27.50/500 shipped, ammunition that shoots well for me are Aguila 40 gr LRN/CPRN and I am waiting for them to fall below $30/500.

How low will we go down this time?

Well, there were many that posted we would not even make it back down to $30/500 due to supply chain/inflation issues and should stock up at $40/500. And here we are below $30/500.

I am going to wait a bit more to see if prices test and break below $25/500. If bottom forms around $20-$25/500, I will stock up then as I have plenty of 22LR on hand to last several more years.

How is quality control for this ammo, given the crazy production rates needed to keep up with demand? I remember that during the Sandy Hook banic Remington put out some bulk pack Golden Bullet that had about a 7% misfire rate. My hesitancy to buy is less about price and more about potential QC issues.

Walmart dropped the price on the Automatch

Extended rainy winter season finally ended ...Woohoo! (We get 80"-100" of rain annually).

It's been a year since last comparison testing and I have been buying new lots of 22LR ammunition on hand and adding 10+ brands/weights/lots to do comparison testing, including Federal AutoMatch - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...t-shipped-pricing.902560/page-5#post-12304852

I have doctor's appointment tomorrow but open to start doing some shooting rest of the week. :)

Will post my 50/100 yard comparison groups on this thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...r-ammunition-comparison.908102/#post-12618883

I like that Automatch stuff. Groups pretty well at ~3/4" out of my stock 10/22. At 6.5 cpr it's the best price I can find locally and not far off from the best price online, and I don't have to buy a case at a time. $21.16 was a good price, $18.97 is a great one. Definitely gonna get a handful more to sit on.

Walmart dropped the price on the Automatch about $5 a box. Guess it's tine to start stacking it deep

That's a good sign. I don't find AutoMatch to be suitable for target shooting in my guns, but it's good for plinking and handguns. I think that $18.97 is perhaps only $1 more than the best pre-pandemic pricing I'd seen.
