Well I was worried that my sole Ruger GP100 was getting lonely so when I found this 3" GP100 I had to take it home for company. Incidentally I don't have large hands and the smaller grips that used to be standard on the 3" model fits the full-size model as well. Fits my smallish hands very nicely. Reminds me of the Pachmayr Compac grip. I've had the 3" GP100 on my "Nice to have" list (in contrast to my "Must Have" list and my "One Day I'll be super rich and own it" list) for many many years. They aren't real easy to find. I guess Ruger makes like fifty of them every other year. I paid $500 for this one. The price was not negotiable and I wanted it. Made in 1990 it's in excellent shape. That's retail for you. If I had waited somebody else would have bought it. It had only been in the shop for a day and the owner (whom I've known for many years) said that many folks had looked at it already. It was on consignment so the owner couldn't cut me a deal.

I keep thinking I ought to get one some day. Came pretty close to buying one of the Wiley Clapp versions when they came out.

Sweet sixgun!

I had a 3” GP100 with rare adjustable sights, but let it get away from me during a thinning of the herd. Adustable sights seemed a bit much extra bulk on a 3” weapon, anyway, so as I sold it, I was already contemplating the eventual addition of a fixed-sight version, and recently added a pre-owned Wiley Clapp GP100. While the Novak rear sight is not much less bulk than an adjustable, it is less snag-prone, and being more rounded-off, less likely print a hard corner against a carry garment, especially as this one has a spur-less hammer as well.

I do not recall any of the runs of the Wiley Clapp GP100 revolvers having spur-less hammers, so perhaps the previous owner had the work done; if so, it was done very well. Now that I am about to either retire from LEO-ing, or burning-down a bunch of accumulated leave, and spending much time grandpa-ing a toddler and an infant, spurless hammers seem to make plenty of sense.
