I have a first generation M&P 9, and I like it a lot because of its ergonomics, 17+1 capacity, and dependability. But I am generally a Glock guy, and have just never been a fan of the M&P trigger system. I understand that the 2.0 versions are said to have a much nicer trigger, but I'm not ready to spend the money on a new S&W that I don't shoot or carry very much anyway. Anyone have recommendation for a good drop in aftermarket M&P trigger?

I've used their springs and have been pleased, easy to do after watching utube, I've not done the complete trigger

I highly recommend the APEX trigger parts that I have on my Gen3 Glock 17 & 19. I’m fairly confident you will see a major improvement putting the APEX trigger parts on a 1st Gen M&P 9.

I’ve installed 3 Apex triggers in gen 1 M&Ps and one in a Shield. Very much worth the money. The shield was unshootsble until the swap. No matter how carefully I pressed, the front sight would jerk as the striker released.

it’s not as straightforward as a Glock drop-in but Apex has excellent video tutorials.
I’ve done the DCAEK + trigger and the FSS+ trigger. The FSS results in an impressive 3/16” total trigger travel with a 1/16” break. For carry or defense I’d go with the DCAEK, for range and competition the FSS is hard to beat.

here’s a short before and after of the trigger installation for the FSS, and the full boring install video below if you’re interested.

Also if you want a more tactile and audible reset you might want to get the reset assist device or module or whatever it’s called as well
