AIM Surplus - first and last purchase

My first order from Aim was long enough ago that it was for Santa Barbara surplus .32 ACP, at $65.00/1000. I counted it when it came in, and found that they had shipped my 972 or 973 rounds. I called them, informed them of the discrepancy, and was told that they shipped that ammo by weight. Three days later, I got another box of 100, to make up the difference.

BATFE seems to do crap like they are describing on a local basis. There is really no fighting it from a company's stand-point.

I have serious problems with both FedEx and UPS. Both have delivered rifles to the wrong address fort me. Worse, they left them, with the Adult Signature Required prominently displayed, at a house with nobody home. FedEx has also "lost" two orders from CDNN. They track to the Georgia Hub, near Atlanta, and then disappear.

I wouldn't trust them not to allow FFL only merchandise to be diverted to unusual locations.

AIM is local to me as well...a terrible thing.

Good folks, always polite and prompt. I've even showed up on closed days and they still assisted as best they could.

I'd continue doing business even if I had to ship.

I've placed orders with AIM a couple times a month for the last 3 or 4 years and have had nothing but a positive experience.

I -do- know of FFL's having packages meant for them being "intercepted" and or re-directed by their customers. I suspect that is the reason they will not supply a ship to FFL tracking info to a non-FFL.

Also, just because an FFL signs for a package at 3:07 pm does NOT mean you can pick it up at 3:09 pm. Believe it or not, he's got work to do =before= he can release it to you .. and, believe it or not, he has -other- customers and things to do, all of which believe they should be first in line.

Keep your pants on, you'll get your gun. And if you "just can't wait", then don't buy mail order .... ever.

Aim is a good company to work with. I have never had a problem with them.

Only issue I ever had with Aim is that the good deals go out of stock too quickly. :D

I live close enough that I can just pick up firearms but ammo orders I generally have shipped to my house since the shipping is cheaper than the gas and my time.

mgkdrgn is correct. This is the reason they don't provide tracking #'s to customers. There were instances where UPS shipments were diverted by buyers to avoid paying transfer fees.

I don't know why the O.P. has his nose out of joint over the tracking number. What is so hard about calling or going to the dealer and having him look up the tracking number and the status of the shipment?

Is it the company or his ffl he doesn't trust?

I've never had an issue with Aim. The tracking thing is odd, but not a big deal. If dont want to use aim any more, good for me. More stuff for me to buy.

A petty reason to bash them online.

I have heard good things about this place and I decided to buy from them last week as I wanted a Romanian M1969 they had. The price was ok and I was looking for a bolt 22lr. Well once I made the purchase they tell me they are ready to ship but was told they were not going to give me the tracking number and would only give it to the FFL I am sending it to (even though they do not have the email address for my FFL only the address). To me that is just bad business. They are also striking the purchase from my account history on their website. Probably so I cannot get access to the tracking number. Am I being to harsh or expecting too much to be able to get the tracking number for something I paid for? Has anyone else had to deal with this from them? I have never had this happen with any other firearm purchase from any other company. After I receive the rifle (who knows when) it will be the last purchase from this company. I even told this to my FFL and he looked at me like I was on something. He even said it was idiotic.
AIM has posted before on Ar15.com that they no longer provide the tracking number on firearms because UPS offers delivery intercept and change of delivery address and they have been screwed by this in the past (gun(s) didn't go to the dealer). SO if you want to be mad be mad at the criminals, not the honest business trying to survive and not be fined/sued/shut down. IF your gun doesn't arrive at your dealer within 5 business days after shipping, an e-mail or call to AIM will get you the tracking info (though not the number).

AIM told me the same about tracking info when I asked. The AIM salesperson was very polite, professional and disclosive. I fully understand their logic.

Never had any issues with AIM. Well maybe one ... every item I have ordered in VG/excellent condition has arrived in ... excellent to mint condition. Gotta hate when that happens LOL.

As previously stated, AIM, along with several other sellers I have dealt with, will not provide a tracking number to an individual. This is to prevent packages from being intercepted. Also, the reason the order disappeared from your account, as explained to me when I inquired about the issue, is because it was transferred to the FFL's account. FFLs they frequently do business with have an account on there for faster processing. This saves them from having to send them their FFL info every time.

AIM's system can be a bit awkward, but it makes sense from an IT perspective, and it works well. You'll always get good deals from them.

I don't know.

I feel compelled to jump in here and express that I have bought many products from Aim Surplus over the years and I think they are great!
