Great fun, and way harder to hit off-hand then it would seem with open sights.
Especially if the wind is blowing!

Official Ranges have been changed and now are:
20 yards - Chicken
30 yards - Pig
36 yards - Turkey
45 yards - Ram

Note High-Vis paracord attached to the smaller targets.
That's so you can find them again after a good hit.

Both my old Beeman .22 & .177 send them into low orbit with a good hit!
And the smaller ones are very hard to find without the visual aids!!

You should try one of the Gamo "field targets"; these come with kill-zone reducers (so you can make the knock-over paddle as small as you want), and you just pull a string to set them back up again. I've got a few screwed to rubber "patio stones", so I just need to drop them in place, clip some chalk lines on reels to them, then head back to a nice seat in the shade with a beverage.

Too old to handle most off hand shoots, but cutting playing cards in half off the bench is fun too.

At 70, we have a seniors air gun shoot weekly... all are supported shoots.. pistol and rifle...

There's a club just West of Kalamazoo that has a active Air Rifle program. In fact today they had Bench Rest matches. Problem being every match they have has not worked out to my schedule.

Maybe next time, problem at 71, next time??????????????????????

At my gun club we have a dedicated air gun silhouette target range, we also have a fifty station air gun field course.,... no matter what you shoot.. its a lot of fun, especially when you can shoot 500 rounds for under ten bucks..

we have 5,000 members in our club.. established in 1939.. 88 acres, picnics areas, bar b ques , camping, archery, fishing, air gun, skeet , trap, table traps, 5 stand. archery field course through the woods, and a 50 station air gun course through the woods. Big bore, black powder, small bore and pistol all with their own dedicated enclosed shooting houses, can shoot in the rain all day long.. each range has an air conditioned range office with seating for ten people, where you can sit down, have a cold coke and rest up before getting on line again.
we also have an air conditioned club house a fully staffed restaurant... get a burger, a hot dog, an ice cream, or a steak...during hunting season we have venison burgers, venison stew, we have breakfast with Santa, Thanksgiving dinner, and an annual club picnic.. all free to the members.

Never thought of that, rc. Thanks for posting.

Got a seven year old great grand daughter that I started with a cut down Daisy Buck bb gun last year and now she's grown enough to use it full sized. She's been shooting empty 12 oz. plastic coke bottles off hand and doing pretty good at hitting them. I'm going to rig up something like this for her. Ol' Grampa might just might challenge her to a match now and then.

IN this picture there are two racks of chickens , pigs, turkeys, and rams...( 5 of each ) they are grey in color and at the official air gun silhouette target size... the first rack is at 10 yards. the second rack is at 15 yards. An exceptionally good shooter can run both racks...80 out of a hundred members can't hit 50 % of the targets... its not easy
