I went 4 wheelin on my yamaha atv with some friends today. I decided to take my 9mm handgun (like I usually do) and my ak47. I strapped it on to the back of my pack that was on my rear rack, and hit all of the mud we wanted:). After a few hours of mud riding, one of my friends says that I was ruining my ak by getting mud on it:eek:. I just smiled and rinsed the mud off of it in a creek:what:. This ak is tough. I treat it like it was designed to be treated (unfriendly conditions). I told my bud that this is what it was bought for and to stop thinking of it as a collectors rifle or an expensive hunting rifle. With that being said, I let him squeeze off a few rounds. Flawless and powerful. I also told him that if I was going to grab one rifle out of my safe, and had to depend on it totally for protection, I would want to know that it would be up to the task. This one is. He now wants to buy himself one for the same purpose. Got to love the ak47. Tough as a brick. A no B.S. weapon. Now don't get me wrong. I have several rifles that I would never even think of tying on to my atv. They are nice and clean with very little use, but this one is like an old junkyard dog. Never taken care of like the rest of the dogs, but will protect your stuff while the others just watch and bark.:D

I've got a WASR 10, it's the carry everywhere rifle. It's done everything I needed it to. As for durability, here's a short story(sorta)

A friend of mine has a polytech ak. The first Ak that I'd had any experience with. He took it hog hunting one morning. At the time when we were heading out to go hunting it was, 97 Chevy one ton dually with a 16ft trailer hooked up with 2 55 gallon drums of corn on the front and two atv's on it. Total weight, close to 7500 pounds.

We were done hunting, got three hogs field dressed, loaded everything back up and he walked up to the gate as I maneuvered the truck and trailer to pull out. I got out onto the road and he got in with a blank look on his face. Asked "Wheres the ak?".

He had left it propped up against the trailer fender. You could see the tracks where the truck and trailer had ran over it at least 3 times. It pressed it into the dirt and rocks. He wiped it off, racked the slide and fired a couple of rounds through it.

Only damage was it put a couple of little scratches on the receiver. No other problems, and it still makes out hog hunting every now and again.

Gotta love an ak...
