but it wont fit in any modern frame's mag wells, right?

Why not recreate it? say, take a 10mm as the starting point, but neck it so it can take the .30 cal bullet, but make it so the overall length matches that of the parent 10mm....

Not the SAME round persay, but close, and could possibly do two things (MAYBE, im not a reloader, or an enginer, ETC)

Make it possible to have the SAME ballestics of the Tok, but with lower pressures (once again MAYBE) because its possible it would have more case capcity, sorta like the .400 corbon Vs 10mm thing, at the "normal" 10mm levels the .45 ACP based one has more breathing room, as I understand it, giveing it lower pressures, and maybe this would to?

(35,000 PSI, I think for 10mm, I cannot find any data on chamber pressure for 7.62X25 Tok, oddly enough, so this is a true guess)

AND due to the construction, possibly (once again, a guess) that if it works like that it could SURPASS the orginal that the concept came from!

Ill admit that would be kind of cool, plus, a barrel change and maybe a spring change could make any 10mm a 7.62/.30 high velocity capable shooter.

So, what do you all think? id be glad to hear anything anyone has to say, I just figured id pose the thought, hey, what do i have to lose? :D

If you want a high velocity .30 calibre, do a search for .30 Carbine. There's still a couple of revolver made for it, and at least one pistol was chambered for it. It didn't/doesn't sell very well. Not near as many people "think highly" of the 7.62x25 Tok round as you assume.

*shrug* that may be, I was just thinking, and from what Id read alot of people did like it but if its not true, so be it.

ANYWAY, the idea was to fit them into a modern automatic pistol frame, nothing more :) not like Id ever go for something like this, because if I want to play with a high velocity pistol, Ill just get a CZ-52 LOL, why make something that isnt needed when you can have something like for an inexpensive investment?

EDITED TO ADD:

" the .357 sig that had already been made" thread

THIS is funny :D however, from what I could gleen, like the one fellow here had said...it has been done, and failed. To bad I couldnt find anything more about .30 ARMCO thing, I bet it would have been interesting, I love to find out news things :)

P.S.: I prefer .45 ACP for ballestics ;)

10mm necked down to .30 cal should throw a bullet pretty fast. I would be interested but the cost of the ammo would be more than I would want to pay I think.

From what I have read, in WW2 russian soldiers preferred captured Walther P-38 to anything else they could get their hands on, e.g. Tokarev (TT), Luger (P-08), Walther PPK, Nagant 95.

We are working on getting the 7.62x25 into the 1911 Frame. Please be paitent, it's taking a while.

I dont know if its true or not, but I heard somewhere that some people converted some captured 1911's INTO 7.62X25, I belive Id heard it was during the vietnam war, then again....Idont really know, it sounded far fetched to me.

The 9x25 dillon is something to look at.
10mm cartridge necked down to 9mm.
Extreme high velocities, but beats the pistol & barrel pretty heavily.
I believe doubletap carries the ammo & barrels for glock20 conversions.
125gr @ 1725fps, 147gr @ 1550fps

Ash, If you have an documentation or history I'd love to have it. We're working on a project to bring it into current manufacture. The main problem so far is magazines and OAL. While the OAL is not really a problem with ammunition handloaded or some of our defense loads with a flat point (HP), Standard issue and S&B ammunition will be too long for the magazine.

I would buy any modern pistol that was chambered in 7.62x25 Tok, but I wouldn't consider adding a new ".30 caliber 10mm" just to try it. One of the greatests lures of the 7.62x25 round is that it is so cheap (8-15 cents a shot). I am already a 10mm fan and would love a double stack modern pistol chambered in 7.62x25.

Give me a 1911 or a CZ-97B chambered in 7.62x25 Tokarev and I would be a very happy man.

Head size is the same as 38 super. You need a Super size gun 'cause the of the length of the 7.62x25.Tok ammo will fit into a Glock 21 mag.Any mag made for 38 Super should handle 7.62x25.

The standard OAL of the 7.62x25 with a round nose profile is a bit too long for a .38 Super mag. Hollow points and custom ammunition (ours) run with a slightly shorter OAL and work perfectly. There is a bit of a chance that someone will take a factory or surplus round and attempt to shorten it by deep seating the bullet. As we all know this is a very dangerous idea, pressure may spike to an unsafe level with the reduction in case capacity. Trust me, we've been there and done that.

Ron,

Keep us posted on that. Now wouldn't a full size steel framed Witness be fun in that round? On the new large frame models that would produce 18 rounds capacity. You do have some Witnesses on hand to play with as I recall...

:D

I want to make a Derringer that takes 50BMG cases necked down to a 17 HMR!

Sorry........just kidding. A 1911 that shoots Tok ammo would be a very very cool thing. On the 10mm necked down thingy......the pressure would increase accordingly with the smaller bullet and the 10mm is already pretty stout pressure wise.......so you would need a hell of a tough gun.

Shoot well.........

Not necessarily. Just because you neck down a cartridge, the pressure does not go up. You have to remember that you are not shooting the same weight bullets. The pressure will be dependant on the charge, bullet weight, case capacity, and frictional coefficient. If you were to neck down a cartridge, use the same powder charge and same weight bullet; yes the pressure will go up. So you are not wrong in your thinking, just missing a few details.
