I have been avoiding it and have been quite content with straight walled brass but it is time to start loading some bottleneck rifle rounds. Is anyone using this cheap Lee set up? I have watched it work online and it looks promising.
Understand that this will not be a high volume operation, pretty much .30cal stuff.

Yes, I've used them. They work just fine. Know that you are not getting any flexibility--they trim to one length and that's it. Upside is that it's hard to mess it up.

As you say, it's not great for high volume, but it's your time vs. money.

I have used them and they ARE adjustable. Shorter is easy...Longer....well...you have to get creative! But they work just fine for low volume stuff. Anything over a couple of hundred I tend to go the Little Crow route.

Like you , I've only been reloading straight walled shells. About the time I think it's time to move on to rifle cartridges (223 in my case) something will occur with reloading pistol shells that reminds me of the additional challenge of rifle cartridges. I really don't shoot the 223 very often, maybe I would if the shells didn't cost so much. Please keep us updated.

I still use Lee's trimmer, despite owning a very nice Lyman trim lathe. If you chuck either end in a drill, and run the other by hand, there's few faster ways to trim cases by the thousand, and none cheaper.

I use the Lyman case trimmer that I had an adapter made to power it with a Black & Decker cordless screw driver.but I trim a lot of brass.

Yup, used xclusively....get the cutter, $7 @ Sportsmans Warehouse, saw one y'day.

Put the cutter with the mandril screwed on tight in a 1/2 drill press. Take a piece of scrap wood, maybe 3/4 x 1 x 9, whate er is convenient. Drill A 1/4 hole about 1" from the end and then cut a slot from the hole to the end of the scrap. Put the shell holder in the hole a d use a screw to close the slot tight on the holder. Put a case inthe holder and position under the trimmer and lower it to get everything lined up. Clamp the scrap to the press platform. You will fiddle a little bit, but once it's all aligned things go quickly. Save the scrap block.
