I'm looking to clear coat over alumahyde 2 and I'm looking for an alternative to the alumahyde clear coat. I have Rust-Oleum clear enamel but it says it contains acetone. Will this cause the alumahyde finish to crinkle or peel off. What are my options for clear coating over alumahyde?

I would think any Acetone would be risky and possibly attack the Aluma-Hyde.
Lauer Duracoat makes a clear coat that should work. You might contact them and ask about compatibly on Aluma-Hyde..........

If you buy the liquid, you can buy a cheap airbrush from Harbor Freight to apply it, or you can buy the aerosol can.

Contact Brownells and ask? I'm sure they've fielded the question before, and should have no problem advising even if your clearcoat isn't a Brownells product.
They WILL be concerned about it's affect on their Alumahyde II. In a unique way you will have better info then even contacting Rust-O-leum or other companies about their respective products.

No disrespect, but I'm confused; why a clearcoat over Alumhyde? We are talking the spray paint that Brownell's promotes?
I've refinished a bunch of AR stocks/pistol grips/handguards, and all have held up wonderful well to solvents, oil and handling.
