No, don't get too excited. I asked Kahr if they had any plans and they said not right now. I'm just curious to see who'd buy one if Kahr made an aluminum framed MK9/40? I love my K9, but it is heavy, and I don't like Kahr's plastic guns. Now that I've got the K9, I suspect my next handgun will be a S&W642 unless Kahr makes a lighter metal MK9 type. Course the Rohrbaugh may be interesting too, but I like the Kahr MK size and feel.

So who'd buy one? Anyone? And who won't buy their P series (for whatever reason)? If there's overwelming support for one, maybe Kahr will listen.

I've also wondered why Kahr doesn't make an aluminum alloy framed version. It seems very logical. Lighter weight, but still all metal.

I have a PM9 and used to have an MK40. They both have been really great guns. An aluminum Kahr sure seems like a good idea. I wonder how much lighter it would be than the steel Kahrs?

Kahr did considerable experimental work on aluminum frames, but finally decided that the frames weren't durable enough.

Apparently there's something about the Kahr design that caused the aluminum frames to crack.
In any event, Kahr abandoned the idea when they discovered that the polymer frames would stand up to heavy use, and that polymer was was the "hot item" for gun buyers.

Market-wise, most people given a choice between steel, aluminum, and polymer, will pick either steel or polymer.

Whether Kahr's plastic is standing up to hard use is debatable. It's clearly not up to Glock standards. I'd like to see something about Kahr trying aluminum if you have a link or reference. Makes me wonder if they used cast or forged, and why they wouldn't try adding Scandium like the rest of the gun world.

Not me, I love aluminum frames. I would buy a Kahr K-9 in aluminum if it was well tested and worked. I would really like to see a titanium K-9!
