Pudge, can you answer something? If your Dad was left-handed and shot the way you mention, ON WHICH SHOULDER did he place the stock? Left or right? If left, wouldn't that put the bolt handle right in front of his face?

Left shoulder. He was shooting an old sporterized 03 A3, offhand, 2 shots, both hits on a moving deer. He did not keep a cheek weld and cycled the bolt with his right hand. He looked far more natural performing that action than he ever did signing his name.

Lots of interesting stories on this thread. I love to read them and see what others are experienced with. My dad is the one who taught me to shoot and he is right handed. So the first time he handed me a long gun and I put it up to my left shoulder because naturally that was my instinct and it feels more comfortable he said “okay do everything I said now just left handed”. So I guess everyone has their ways. I’m right eye dominant but shoot long guns off the left shoulder. Handguns towards the left (if 2 handed) and to the right (if 1 hand) and Bows off the right. Just how I’m wired!
