Ruger has finally listened to big bore revolver fans and is now offering a Bisley Super Blackhawk in the .454Casull and .480Ruger chamberings!!! Both guns will have five shot cylinders of Carpenter Custom 465 stainless steel with recessed case heads. They will have 6½" barrels and the long ejector from the 10" Super Blackhawk and Hunter models. They are a distributor special, only available only through Lipsey's. Read more about it below:

I think this one is going to be a big seller. Folks have been begging for it ever since the .480 came out. I never wanted a .454 until now.

nice. finally got smart and use a pinned front sight. the casull still has the 1-in-24" twist, though. oh well, I still want one.

murf

faster twist to better stabilize heavy bullets at long distance. there is a question regarding wide nosed lbt style bullets and the slower twist of the casull.

murf

p.s. learn something new every day. never noticed the pinned sight on the stainless models.

I like'em and will get one...just gonna wait as I noticed the MSRP is $969...I will just wait and get used .480...and maybe brass will be available by then.

Max Prasac tested the 365gr and 405gr Garrett loads in it and they all performed beautifully. Twist rate shouldn't be a problem.

I would like to make a different observation than most folks on this string about this revolver. It OBVIOUSLY is Ruger's attempt to STEAL the creative designs of Freedom Arms' Revolvers. This new pistol everyone is singing praises about is OBVIOUS THEFT of intellectual and creative property. Shame on you Ruger. Quit cheating and do your own work. Bill Ruger wouldn't have it any other way, would he?

Very nice, good lookin' guns with clean lines. I'm surprised Ruger waited this long considering the huge interest nowadays in big bore hunting revolvers and the voices screaming for them to bring back the .480. Kudos to them for listening to their customer base.

I was a tad surprised at the accuracy of the .480 in Jeff Quinn's ransom rest test @ 25 yards. Even the tightest group of 2.5 inches equals 10'' @ 100 yards and would for the most part, make that too far to ethically shoot at whitetails, for even the best of handgun shooters, just shooting off a bag or sticks. Hopefully handloading would tighten that up.

Stealing? Would you care to elaborate in detail? I'm not seeing the problem. BTW, I own Freedom Arms guns.

I really like the looks of these.
I'll take mine in 454 please!

Would love to see it with a barrel cut flush with the ejector housing, and in a polished blue.
One of these may very well find it's way into my collection of shooters

do you have a reference?
Sorry, that was from a phone conversation.

Unadulterated nonsense.

Ummmm, no. Freedom arms was not the first company to put a big bore cartridge in a SA platform. Maybe they were the first to build a 454 SA, but so what?

It would make more sense to say they are ripping off Colt, but that is nonsense as well.

Very tempting, I have a BFR in 454 so maybe to mix things up a bit the new Bisley 480 Ruger would suffice, I've kept an eye on the 480 and it does seem intriguing.

I'd take one in .480. About ten years ago I had a Marlin magazine with an 1895 in .475 Linebaugh/.480 Ruger. That rifle, plus this revolver in .480.

WOW, I have been waiting for this one for a LONG>>>>TIME! I finally stepped up an bought a Clements .475 and love it, but could see a place for a .480 as well. I hope the 5.5 in Barrel becomes available sometime in the future and I will have to have one. These should sell like hotcakes...

Damit. I don't need a 480...... But.....

Sigh....... Damit

Between this, and the Ruger Precision Rifle I want, and the Sig P220 in 10mm I want, and the $1400 worth of scopes I need to buy....... I'm screwed.
