Anyone else enjoy the beauty of ammunition packaging from way back when? I know I do. Talk about triggering some nostalgia.
In the process of sorting through some older ammunition, and I must say these designs are simple, yet beautiful.

I have to say my favorite is the Federal HI-Power box of 16ga in the upper right corner. Black/Red/Gold w/ duck is very good looking to me. These also trigger memories, my first deer hunt I carried a box of 30-30 WIN. with the exact same livery as the Winchester Super-X box in the upper left corner.

Anyways, back to sorting.

WOW, those are some cool boxes. Thanks both for sharing. I have a few boxes, I'll have to get pics of them. For some reason, it never occurred to me up until now. Some very cool stuff though.

The only pic I have is this one I took messing around. It's not particularly old, from the 90s, but it takes me back to my young adulthood. I used to buy it from K-mart for 90 cents a box.

I did some remembering, and while it's not old, I do have another pic handy, I always liked Winchester's boxes.

It's box with ammo in it, something that goes in the trash when the ammo is gone. Manufacture's name, caliber, and bullet weight is all I care about. Oh, I forgot velocity on 22 rimfire. Think about how it could have been priced lower and still could with only that.

The oldest stuff I got is 7.62x54r in a spam can, so it ain't nothing to look at.

But I'm loving some of these pictures. You can tell the pop culture cues of the day in some of them. Is that first post from the 70's?

I have a few from the 20s and 30s and really like them, but they are so beat up they aren't really good for anything. I scratch the itch by buying from Cheyenne, whenever possible.

My favorites are probably from Kynoch, though. Even 20 years ago, the .416 Rigby stuff was over $100 for packets of five rounds, so I didn't buy much of it. I intend to make the boxes last forever, though...
