Ammo Price Update

Haven't noticed any increase locally. But to forestall any increase in spending on 9mm ammo that I might have bought at Walmart, I bought reloading dies and now pay about $5 a box :)

Charleston, SC area - Federal 9mm went up by about $1 per box (was $10.49, now around $11.49). Starting to look like buying online is a better deal. I wont' shoot Wolf or the like, but even for brass cased ammo some of the stuff like S&B, PMC, Magtech, Aguila, etc is cheaper and just not available at Wal-mart.

This is beside the fact that I shoot mostly reloads anyways. Still, I gotta occasionally get SOME factory ammo to replenish my brass supply :).

Maybe it is because of nice dry weather in many places. But prices for fuel futures have gone down recently, which can help reduce overall jumps.

slowr1der:
When 7.62x39 (one day) goes up to about .30/rd., this will mean a larger fraction of shooting with the .22.
What is the long-term outlook for the Russian ruble versus US dollar?

The other question is whether bottles of gunpowder will also see only gradual price increases.

price increase at wal mart

my local wal mart has indeed increased its ammo prices. A box of 100 rnds of 9mil is up from $21 to $23 and since the federal .45 recall their .45 prices are outrageous. I don't buy there any more.. You can get pretty reasonable prices for bulk at luckygunner.com

Sounds like a way for the feds to limit gun ownership.
Please enlighten us with the details of your theory of how "the feds" are directly controlling the ammo prices at Walmart to limit gun ownership.

In western Washington, Federal 115gr 9mm is now $12.00 per 50 box. The last time I bought ammo from Walmart was around 6 months ago and it was $10.50 then. Looks like I might be relying more on ammoengine and gunbroker from now on.

well i bought the first ammo i have gotten in over a year a box of winchester 240gn sp(havent worked a good universal pistol/rifle round yet) and it shoots dandy. but to price, it was 38 for a box of fifty up at least 10 dollars from last year.

Went to my local China Mart today and everything has gone up.
Federal 45 18.97/50
Federal 9mm 11.97/50
Federal 380 17.57/50
WWB 45 36/100
WWB 9mm 25/100

Why does EVERYTHING have to be a conspiracy? Ammo goes up by a buck a box, and its somehow a backhanded gun control policy being enacted by the feds? C'mon.....REALLY?

I was in Wal Mart the other day and every type of ammo appeared to have increased between $1 to $3 per box. It is still much cheaper than any of the gun shops in my area. If I'm not mistaking I think the price of Mossberg 500 shotguns has gone up too, they used to be $209 now I think they were $249.

Precious metals have gone way up recently, the most important of which is copper. This price increase for ammo doesn't surprise me. My solution- steel cased ammo.

If you don't like high prices shoot less, buy less and decrease the demand.

I still find it funny that every time Walmart ammo increases in price there is a thread on it. LOL And then there is a conspiracy....meanwhile in Kennebunkport Maine.....in a smoke filled room....

You people. :D

My local walmarts all went up, I don't buy ammo there anymore anyways. The only ammo I buy is my rimfire stuff, both of which i get at my local gun store, not onunto support him but he has the cheapes prices on .22 and .17HMR ammo around. I'm getting CCI 500 packs for 13.99!

yeah i've finally broken down to steel cased ammo. sucks but i cant afford to pay an arm and a leg to go plinking.

S.GA

It went up some. The Federal 45 was 16.87 I think now its 18.97? The bulk box of 22 of 333 I think is 14 something and the 555 count are around 19.

What is it with every time there is a price increase its a fed conspiracy?
Operation Gunwalker looks to be a conspiracy or collusion at the very least.

Walmart's prices going up for ammunition is not related to the Federal Government right now. Look around at other sources. Many retailers are saying that the suppliers of the ammunition or the manufacturers themselves are saying everything is going to increase. Why you may ask? Because of black men in suits in dark rooms some where? No, because the raw material prices are going up as is the fuel that brings the shipments in and out of the factories. This is simple economics. So long as demand for ammunition remains the same or increases the prices are going to increase. If you want to see what your ammunition prices could do check the futures metal markets. The companies can only absorb so many price increases to keep the bottom line going and keep the share holders happy. Really, if you do not trust me, go look at the markets for metals.
