There is no Ammo Shortage

Ammo is a good multiplier for your money unlike the sleazy banks you can t even make money in many years. Banks are practically making money out of your money leaving you penniless.

You better hope banks make "money out of your money". Otherwise, they would go out of business. It's called the profit motive, which is the greatest economic benefit to mankind... something the socialists and communists can't seem figure out.

Isn't it amazing how we have to educate the anti-gunners and then turn around and educate pro-gunners on capitalism...

*sigh*

So, with so much ammo being bought by apparently anyone who can find it and a lot of ammo being produced to meet the demand, is anyone waiting for this ammo to hit the secondary market in a year or two at reduced prices? It can't all be getting shot up this fast. I'm thinking if people are hurting for money and sitting on 20,000 rounds that they bought in fear, they may try to unload some of it when they need cash. With everyone buying so much ammo, sooner or later demand should slump for ammo from stores as well and may even have reduced prices.
I still don't think ammo prices ever fully went back down to pre-2008 panic prices even before the current panic. However, I am well stocked and can sit out this feeding frenzy.
I suggest that you not sit this out as I doubt things will ever get better. You may pay a higher price but when you "dollar cost average" your inventory the price you pay mitigates the price shock.

After seeing frenzy buying of several commodities over the years I have enough to last me 6 months of my average range shooting.

I found 9mm FMJ at $12.99/box50 yesterday and believe with just another month we'll see sales at $10-11 a box again and even if it settles at $12-13 it's still pretty cheap recreation...

The backorder times should drop as supplies increase and multiple orders are cancelled. The situation should begin to ease once some proposed legislation is announced and we know what we are dealing with. I had been stocking primers since before the election as I was looking at the possibility of another round of "Obama" fever. Since the first occurrence of this malady I have been keeping AT LEAST 3k of both small and large pistol primers in reserve at all times as I shoot a match or two every weekend from March to October.

Unless that proposed legislation prompts even an greater frenzy to purchase ammunition. With 80 million people demanding ammo all at one time, and the government demanding the machines to fill its orders of ammo, it might be awhile before the suppliers can catch up. For that matter, I haven't noticed a huge surplus of ammunition on shelves even *before* this current AW ban business started. I have frequently gone into WalMart or some other store and found they are without ammo.

Shortage= difficult to find, not all demand can be satisfied.

Stock out= zero available, no demand can be satisfied.

We do have a shortage. Let's use correct definitions.

.223 has been low since the election with some places limiting quantity to 100 rounds per customer before all of this. Like I said the situation SHOULD get better as it becomes clearer and some panic subsides BUT it could get WORSE if the proposed legislation is really bad. The panic is occurring now in my opinion because of uncertainity which leads to assumption.

My local Walmart had 7 - 20 round boxes of remington 55gr .223 for $7.97 last night. And apparently had more in a truck around back...

Outstanding!!!! That is a good price for Remington even before all of this.
I am confident that if the upcomming proposed legislation does not effect ammunition the situation will ease but it will things will be in short supply for a while.

^^^ All I know is that many of the Walmart, Academy's, and many of the online stores are in fact out of a bunch of stuff... mabye not your ammo choices but shelves are empty. If I walk or drive out of my way just to go somewhere else to find "They" are out as well... I would say there is some kind of ammo shortage or Aliens are teleporting ammo and guns off the shelves.

I'm from the Planet Texas. There is no shortage of ammo. You can find all you want on Gunbroker. Now I will admit that there is a shortage of cheap ammo but you can get all the ammo you want if you are willing to pay for it.
If there were no shortage of ammunition it would not be over priced!!
If there were no shortage of ammunition I would be able to go into any of my 3 area WalMarts and Dunham's Sports and walk out with a box of .22LR there is NONE where there were thousands of rounds a month ago!!!

Well we have an OUT OF STOCK situation here - not a shortage! I went into Sportsman's Warehouse and the largest local gun shop in the entire county this afternoon and there is NO 9mm available. Not any!! Very little of anything else on the shelves either. I had 500 rds a few weeks ago and didn't anticipate this crazy run on ammo. I guess I was "asleep at the wheel". The local gun range is seeing very light shooting activity now I'm told. The reason is that maybe 50% of their regular shooters scarfed up all the ammo that was available locally and the rest now don't have anything to shoot. These are crazy times, but I won't get caught short again if I can ever find some to buy.

Here is walmart at affton mo. 50 rds 124gr. 9mm was 39 $!

Let this be a lesson........... It has happend before and will happen again if a horrible ban isn't instituted.

Please be prepared in the future as I hate to hear folks whine:( , this has alway been a possibility and we have seen this in the past.

There is no excuse...

I have so much now that I bought a new safe just for the storage of ammo. When Obama got elected the first time I made sure I had a minimum of 5000 rds of each caliber I shoot....

Where I am there is no ammo except for a few boxes of hunting rounds like .243 win, as an example. Allot of common hunting ammo is gone as well. Basically any round someone might consider self defense or target shooting is gone completely.

I have been hunting online as well.....most choices are gone.

But I am not looking at the turned scalper sites like gun broker and such. Id rather sit on what I got and not shoot than hand my money over to a scalper, but that's me.
