I've seen this debated, not ever clearly answered one way or the other.
Ishapore 2a1, rifle made in India, built on Enfield design, natively chambered (not converted) to 7.62 NATO.
I've seen the debate rage back and forth as to whether .308 Winchester is safe to shoot in it (factory loads).
I just ordered some 'loose brass' 308 from ammoman.com. In their caliber listing, it combines the 2 (308/7.62 NATO), instead of separate listings. The "loose brass" was stated to be from new boxes broken during shipping, they put 50 rds of mixed in a bag and sell it for $20. I ordered 5 bags, to get the free shipping.
I've shot 7.62 PPU through this, was running low. Checked in a large LGS, the guy at the counter said they were the same thing and safe to interchange.
Not trying to stoke any arguments, but has it been determined that factory loads of 308 is safe? I'd think, for liability reasons (since the rounds can physically interchange), that manufacturers would load to a safe level for both.
Thanks for any input!
