My flat top 44 special 5.5" barrel was purchased new about 4 yrs ago. There is no "xr" designation anywhere. All i see on left side grip area is scratched "3" then near backstrap is a stamped "A" higher up is a stamped "7"
As far as i can tell this is the "xr3" grip frame, that correct?
The front part where the logo is falls short of the 3" square check(xr3-red touches 3" square on both right angle sides)

Want to find some used grips, but want the right ones.

Thanks!

To answer your question, yes and no.

The Fiftieth Anniversary, and similar model Flat Tops, have the XR3 grip frame/profile. BUT they will not interchange with the old Three Screw XR3 grip frames.

When ordering grips, you must specify that the grips will fit the "New Vaquero."

^^^ What he said.

You can adapt Old Model flat-top grips to the new XR3. Just have to drill a new hole for the locator dowel. Going the other way, you also have to add bevels to the top, inside edge.
