You folks that have the inexpensive High Noon holsters, do you prefer the ones with the 15 degree cant or straight up? It looks like the ones with the cant (Bare Asset or Split Decision) have the gun riding higher. The ones that are striaght up (Mr Softy and Hidden Ally) let the gun ride lower. I've never used a holster, but I'm thinking that lower riding would be better, no? What are your thoughts about position?

Again, refering to my previous post about Inexpensive High Noons, this will be a holster that will not be used often since I can't carry in Maryland, only neighboring states.

I've tried both the vertical Mister Softy and the canted Bare Asset. Vertical works for me only if carrying in the 1 or 2:00 position (AKA "appendix carry"). If carrying behind the hip, a canted holster keeps the gun butt in the "hollow" of my back, whereas a vertical causes the gun butt to stick out from my back like a flag. Also, lower is not necessarily better. If a holster rides too low, you will not be able to slide your second finger up under the trigger guard for a full grip as you draw from the holster, something I feel is necessary.

the general rule of thumb is that the further back you wear your holster, the more cant you need for a smooth draw.

as TLH already said, lower isn't always better...and almost never in a IWB holster as it interferes with establishing your master grip in the holster.

i use a vertical ride holster for competition or teaching as it requires less core movment
