Another Day Another Email from BCA

If PSA makes an upper in 500 Auto Max I'm there!

Other options are nice though!

I have been waiting for this since last summer. This will be the cheapest option for a AR style 300 win mag or 30-06. I wish they had gone with a longer barrel but other than that I am excited for it.

The .300 win mag is suspiciously missing in action, which is the only one I am interested in.
I didn't really look because the first notice I received a while back only mentioned the 300 win mag and 30-06 versions. They said nothing about doing a 270. Dunno.

I just looked at the original link (newsletter) and they did mention the 270. I have to assume the 300 will be rolling out soon.

Are larger mags available? They are listed with 5rds only and I don't see extras listed on the site

Originally they said they were going to come with 10rd magazines. I don't know what happened.

I think it’s great to have an A.R. style rifle in these larger calibers. I also can’t understand anyone lugging a 12 pound rifle around hunting. If you want to be able to hit the zombie hordes at 1500 yards they should be perfect.

I showed it to one of my gunsmith friends, and his response was along the lines of how much money BCA was charging for a product that was going to have a fairly low build quality and spotty reliability.

I have had no issues with my personal BCA uppers, but he spends a lot of time fixing BCA build issues. Last time I asked him, he said that about 25% of the BCA products that they sell require some hands-on to get them to work.

I like 30.06, but isn't this sort of step back in time? I mean it can do anything I want to do with a rifle, but aren't there more efficient and modern rounds now? I've seen 6.5 CM compared to 308, but I hadn't bothered to look at it against old reliable.

I had an AR in .358 WSSM. The builder only used Kreiger barrels, and all that was available at the time was a heavy bench rest profile. Lugging that around the deer woods got old pretty quick. I bought it to fit some rather odd hunting laws in place at the time. There was nothing it would do that a bolt rifle couldn’t do just as well at about 1/2 the weight once the law changed.

This appears to me to be a solution looking for a problem to solve. But, some will buy it “just because”

If we're increasing the weight of an AR 10 to get longer cartridges in it, I want to increase power level. Hence my interest in 300wm. The magnum bolt face is my interest, with a 30-06 backup upper for fun. 30-06 isn't a good enough reason to add the extra weight in my opinion. But give em a month, it's probably a delay in magazine manufacturing...

Interested in a 30-06, but if I'm buying BCA, I want cheap. I'll get a Noreen if they want Noreen prices.

But in all fairness, these aren't Noreen prices. Their cheapest .30-06 is a basic carbine with a 16'' barrel that is still $400 more than these. To get something that is similar, it is at least $800 more, and $1500 more for their .300wm

Granted, I would rather have the Noreen, but 2k is tempting if these actually run.
