Another sport for you blackpowder guys. Put "Anvil Shooting" into you search engine to view some really goofy stuff people do with anvils and blackpowder.

Looks like a heap o' fun to me. Now we need to start a new sport:

Anvil Catching.

Mountain men use to do that on the 4th of July and at the Ronyvoo's.

Fired a couple of them myself at Ronyvoos a few years back.

Several years ago the news featured a small town in Texas.
They had a telegraph and news of the Armistice came in the middle of the night.
They went to the blacksmith shop and got two anvils and spent the night blowing them up to spread the word.

They still do that on Armistice day.

Remember the Movie "Shane" where they blew the anvil on the 4th July. Cheap and loud fireworks.

Kabooom!!

Of course my wife didn't understand my cackling when I watched that video. She's afraid I might take Grandpa's anvil out from under the work bench and give this a go in the back yard...NOT!! I think I'd rather watch from a safe distance. Obviously the shooters shouldn't wear things like nylon or polyester, it would suck to get a static shock at an inappropriate moment. Try explaining that one to your life insurance company!!

Gotta give 'em credit though, sure looks like fun.

The movie "Sweet Home Alabama" had a scene where they were blowing the anvil up in the air...looked like fun.
