Have been looking for a winchester 94 Legacy rifle in 30-30 for awhile and found one.
Color case receiver. Also made in 38-55. Read that the "new" color case is more chemical than heat /forged style.
I do reload the 30-30.
Any issues with strength or cleaning?

I don't think anyone short of Turnbull still does authentic color case hardening anymore. With modern steels there isn't much of a functional need to harden the steel with a bonemeal/charcoal recipe like in the past. It is just for aesthetics now. That being said, with normal cleaning you will get some fading but it shouldn't come completely off. Just don't use anything too strong when cleaning.

Interestingly enough, the colors from original bone case hardening will fade out with time and sun. Nothing lasts forever although nuclear waste gives it a good shot.

Other than the huge scallop in the receiver for the cross bolt safety, and the caliber I chose, the Legacy I had in .45 Colt was just like my four other 1894’s.

Stay safe.

I purchased an 1892 Trapper TD in December of 2020. I immediately returned it to Winchester (Arnold, MO) because the CC was wiping off of the receiver with little to no effort - to (white) metal. After several months, Winchester decided to scrap that rifle and replaced it with a new rifle. I think that was an isolated problem as I own other Winchester CC levers and their CC finish is holding up fine.
