Finishing up one build ... and am considering / researching a build on a Mini ... anyone have one?....and what do you think? Arc-Lite

If the mini is all you got, like here in Kali, go for it, if not, there are better options.

Paging Mace Windu, paging Mace Windu....

Gotta second Perfect Union, those guys are Mini-14 geeks.

Thank you Guns and Rovers.... will go threw that forum...and see the latest. Could not ask this on the fn site... good to see you over here as well... Arc-Lite (pax in the fn world)

Now that's funny. I had a flashback to Peewee's Big Adventure: Paging Mr. Herman, Mr. Herman you are wanted at the front counter...

Yes I must admit Windu is the guy to talk to when it comes to overhauling the Mini. He knows the system inside and out. Just don't him rolling on the Mini-14 vs. AR vs. AK vs. M82A1-a vs. FAL/G3/M1 vs. M249 vs. Vulcan Cannon. We'll be here all night.

Just KIDDING Mace.

BTW: Those guys at Perfect Union are INSANE what they have done with the Mini, and some of their ideas are cheap ones too. It looks like you could get the average Mini under 1.75" MOA for less than $150. Tack that to a used Mini ($340 locally), that's not bad.

asi mini

We got one done,so done its got its own fork. .900 barrel, enlarged gas block,20" ss 1x9 barrel, pillar bedded ,sweet trigger 3.25lbs, the funky m1carbine site ,but we shoot 1 to 1-1/2 groups with them and less with the cheap tasco or simmons scope. Something like .75" or a liiittle less at 100 yds with no wind. Trying now for a new site rig peeps of some kind and a mo better scope. I am not disapointed we got what we ask for and am damn proud of her,They did a good job overall on this rifle [ASI]. The rifle shoots better with some one else shooting and tho heavy it is remarkably balanced.
I wood would recomend the work of ASI tho set your parameters better than we did and comminicate mo better. been offered $ i have in the project by 2 folkks locally,Yeah right I said. We waited but we were in no hurry as some are. Several other plinkers in use. Basically shipped it and forgot it except a couple emails and 3 or 4 call on the phone trying to clarify the options not checking on the when, Sorry for the long answer. It is my second fav rifle,1st is the m1a SA . The time factor was no issue with us when the project was going on. Be ready be patient be clear .

bcbr....thanks for the info...I was looking at the bit longer tube...like yours in 20"... when dealing with custom builds...your right,be patience, and be clear...was your done on the 181 unit? Arc-Lite

Mace, what groups do you get and what type of ammo?

When I have borrowed glass from another rifle and used American Eagle, I was able to get 1 MOA groups. I would like to use some Black Hills and see what she can do

So how much of the original Mini is left? Trigger guard, firing pin...what else? :neener:

Open Road, exactly correct. Its all there. Just in different placesLOL!
We tried to find a new rifle in .223 a mini garand ,scaled down and every thing or a mini m1a scaled down in pro porsion . It would have been a good project.
the reciever and trigger would be what is left of the original anchor.the rest is in the vaullt layin there. Been thinkin of donatin the left overs to a deserving soul somewhere.
That rifle is absolutley worth what I paid for it . It is one idea that was kicking around for years. It is what I wanted.

Mace I hate to ask but what did it cost to get your Mini all tricked out like that?? That is one sweet looking Mini 14.

update

Spoke with Carl of Accuracy Systems this morning....he said the build time, is now about 4-6 weeks... Arc-Lite

Try the Black Hills 52gr MHP loading--besides being very accurate, it's only 30 cents a round!

Has anyone started making decent 20 rounders for the Minis yet?

hmmmm...if what you say is true Mace, and there is no reason to doubt you....I do not think I would be interested in dealing with Accuracy Systems. thanks for the heads up. Arc-Lite

Arc-Lite...

...I am not saying that they are not a good company or that they do not provide good customer service...only that time frame seems a bit unrealistic....best thing to do:

*Pick the plan you want + any extra's (Be specific, re. what you want, pm me for specifics)
*Send them your carbine
*Forget all about the project until you get it back

Calls once a month, for updates are good.
