The girlfriend and I are driving from central Washington down to Walla Walla on Saturday. Are there any good gunshops between here and there? I was going to stop by Jake's Place in Selah, but I just found out a few days ago that that place had closed.

At any rate, any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Try Shooter's Supply on Tieton Drive in Yakima. It's a ways off the freeway, but it's worth it. Friendliest staff I've ever encountered. I bought a Turner sling for my M14 and Don gave me a clinic on how to correctly employ the thing.

I've been TDY at the Firing Center for 5 months, and in that time I've bought 3 guns from Shooter's Supply-an FN-49, an M1 Garand, and a Remington Rand M1911A1.

There's also Guns West II and Stadler Arms on Fruitvale in Yakima, but Shooter's Supply is my favorite.

Prices on the three items I bought were more than fair. But those were all used (they're C&R) and at least one was consignment.

I'm not really in the market for new stuff, so I don't pay too much attention. About average, from what I've seen.

Also, run a google search for "gun stores in pasco, WA". That'll get you a bunch of possibilities in the Tri-Cities.

If you're going through the TriCities, Sportsman's Warehouse in Kennewick has a very large selection. Also, Hole in the Wall in Kennewick occasionally has some deals. You can look them up through Google.

There's a small shop that sells alot of CZ stuff (rifles, shotguns and pistols) in Walla Walla, very nice folks, too. Just a bit on the pricey side, though.

I'm looking for mostly C&R stuff a well. My college student status denies me the finer firearms available. ;)

I'll look them up too. Thanks!

I haven't seen a whole lot of the more inexpensive end of the C&R spectrum at Shooter's Supply. I spent $1800 on the three that I bought. There are two interestin sporters on the used rifle rack-an Enfield Mk III* and a Krag. I'm tempted each time, but right now sporters aren't my thing.

Last time I was there, they had a 1944 Mauser P38 (reblued at some point) for $400, and a 1918 Colt M1911 for $700. I almost bought the Colt for BAG Day.

This has nothing to do with the thread....but I always thought "Walla Walla" sounded sooooo funny.

Imagine....."FREEZE!!! Walla Walla Police!!!" Sounds like Elma Fudd playing cop.:D

"Fuh...Fuh....Fuh....Oh heck....Stop, Police!"

Washington has some of the best location names. Snoqualmie, Snohomish, lots of others up in the Cascades. The names where I grew up identify it pretty quickly: Toad Suck, Possum Grape, Bald Knob, Grubbs, I could go on . . .

Curious question for a hopefully soon Washington resident. Does a Washington CCW permit exempt you from the 3 day waiting period and background check? I heard it does in other states but was curious about Washington?

As one of the apparently few remaining Washington natives, I humbly offer up as a town name: Humptulips. And no, it does not involve Dutch girls in the flower fields!

A Washington CCW does not exempt you from the instant background check, it does exempt you from the waiting period.

You are exempt from the 3-day waiting period, but not from the background check (It only takes about five minutes though).

Humptulips...

First I find out beastiality isn't illegal in WA (did the Legislature get around to fixing that?)and now...Humptulips.

Damn this state is weird.

Langenator, as of about six weeks ago, during the most recent legislative session, a bill was passed criminalizing bestiality. It passed both houses with no dissenting votes, and horses everywhere in the state neighed in relief!

PS: What Langenator was referring to was a story last year that got huge media attention in this area: a man who died after having sex with a horse. "How unusual", I thought. "The horse must have kicked him and he died of blunt impact trauma". I was sadly wrong. The deceased animal 'lover' died of a perforated colon caused by being the receptive partner to the stallion. It turns out that there was a group of people, sharing information on the Internet, who were breaking into a horse barn in Enumclaw and having their way with the horses! As my teenagers like to say, way too much information! After the story came out, it turned out that there was no applicable criminal statute. So in order to prevent Washington from becoming a mecca for horse ****ers, a law was passed.

Ha,ha, I was born in Walla Walla!
Have since moved to the East Coast, but any time I put my birth place down on some form, I get a strange look from people.:D

Jake's has been shut down for a few months now. IIRC, he was looking to remobdel and then move into high-end hunting rifles and shotguns.
