Any new 7x57 rifles?

I have 2 7x57 rifles and a barrel for a third. It's one of my favoritest cartridges. If I didn't have one and wanted a new rifle, I'd go with a 7mm-08 because they're ballistically twins. Another option is to buy a long-action Savage and get a prefit barrel for it.

There are new/newish Winchesters M70s, a CZ 550, a Ruger M77, and a Montana Rifle Company ASR on gunbroker. There are some Rigbys too, but crazy expensive obviously.

I'd look at the MRC or CZ if it was me.

I've really been wanting a new 7x57 rifle. I have an 8mm Mauser, and I like it, but I think the 7mm would be a more versatile round, and I would prefer a new rifle. Are there any new manufacture 7x57 guns on the market?

I guess I could get a new 7mm-08 since they are so similar, but I would prefer a 7x57. If they are as scarce as I think, what suggestions would you guys have for a general (plinking/maybe hunting) 7mm-08?

I went this route myself after finally giving up on a Ruger 77 RSI in 7x57. Beautiful rifle. It just wouldn't shoot.

I looked and looked for another 7x57 then finally a stainless Tikka T3 in 7mm-08 found me. Really, I wasn't even looking for a rifle at the time. LOL It was one of those "if you don't buy it, one of the three other guys looking at it will." So I did. And I have no regrets. The 7x57 is an historic round, and still as fine as anything available. But the 7mm-08 is a carbon copy and IMO the most versatile all-around hunting caliber in existence.

So my vote is find the rifle you want and get it in a 7mm-08. You will be happy you did.

Looked at Tikka's European site... to my surprise you can get a T3X in 8x57 Mauser! But not the 7x57.

Checked a couple others... Sabatti offers their Rover in 7x57. Zastava lists their M70 in 7x57. So yes, it is possible.

I understand wanting a 7x57. I have one of those and an 8x57 both built by my grandfather many years ago. I have killed most of my 30 deer with the 7x57 round. I just sold a Remington Mountain Rifle in 7x57. It was a pretty gun but I have about reached as far as I can go when it comes to hunting. My health don't like it much anymore. I will never do another Elk hunt.

I did buy a Remington model 7 in 7/08 and really like that little rifle. Mine is the early version with walnut stock and 18.5" barrel and factory open sights. I have killed one deer and one coyote with it and a young girl used it in a youth hunt at school to kill 4 deer with 4 shots. If you can't find a new 7x57(and you can) then the 7/08 is a fine replacement. The 7x57 may be able to handle the 160-175gr bullets a little better and thats about the only real difference I can see.

How about this one? CZ 550. There are quite a few 7x57s on Gunbroker at the moment.
That’s a beautiful gun, and I want it. It has 8 days to go and it’s already $687. I’m sure it will be above my budget though. In the current market, I’ll probably not be able to afford any new 7x57s that are available.

It’s looking more and more like an 7mm-08 is my only option in the $400-500 range.

if it goes up higher you maybe better with a normal long action rile and put a pre fit on it, there are many for under $300. plus $40 or so to rent a reamer. you could sell the barrel you take off to pay for the reamer or just keep it.

I had that in the back of my mind, but I’m not sure I have the skills necessary to pull it off.

If'n I had your talent and abilities, I wouldn't hesitate to build one, either.
Alas, I am much too limited in my handiwork abilities for the fine work needed to produce a decent hand built rifle....:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: :(
Thanks Poper!
I may just do that, need to find the right action tho.

Tikka T3 SS in 7-08. That's what I bought and I think it's as close to perfection as you can get. On a good day 1/2 inch at 100 yards. Handles great and have made some great hunting shot's with it. 7-08 is an excellent cartridge. One shot kills are routine. And it is a successful long range accuracy cartridge capable of launching excellent 7 MM hunting bullets. Good balance of power and recoil. I have a Weaver Grand Slam on it and like it.

I bought a new 7x57 Winchester featherweight on closeout many years ago for just over $200, and the gun just never worked well for me. Firing pin nose wasn't properly shaped, so misfires common until that was fixed. Thereafter, I could not get better than about 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. Yes, I shot a number of deer with it but I had been spoiled by its predecessor, a model 700 in 6mm Rem. Good luck in your quest.

To quote an old movie character, "A man's got to know his limitations." I know mine!
May I suggest you look around for an old Parker-Hale in .270 or .30-06? I have found them to be fairly common at gun shows and are often under priced. Awesome actions true to the Mauser design.
