Any of y'all use the Schuster M-1 Garand gas cylinder plug?

I have one installed on my match 308 Win Garand. Works fine, is easier on the gun. Takes a bit more time to clean than a standard gas cylinder lock plug. It will change the point of impact and point of impact will change if you change the vent size. I was surprised by the amount of POI change that did occur with my Garand with one of these. I want the POI windage zero to coincide with mechanical zero, nothing more than obsessive compulsive behavior, but that's the way I like my rifles set up. So I had to move the front sight to establish a new zero.

Love mine, as I was fully uninitiated to anything approaching gunsmithing, and it was a breeze to put in and work down in a click-wise manner until it consistently ejected the commercial ammo I have used since. No change in POI from the HPX I was using, though I make no claims as to the repeatability of this experience, and no other adjustments needed.
Let's me keep my surplus M2 ball spam cans sealed and ready for later!

Garand Gear.com also sells a gas plug that does not require changing vent size...I have used one on of M1's when I only had commercial 30-06 available. It appeared to work just fine. They have a lot of test data about this gas plug on their website. (And no I am not affiliated with Garand Gear in any way). This is of course another option if you decide not to use a as Schuster setup.

I used one with good result. After I used up my hot factory loads I removed it, and reload to the proper M1 specs.

Thanks everyone...is the Shuster vented or designed to increase the cylinder displacement? I shined a light through one end and couldn't see any coming through the other end.

The reason I bought it for her rifle was so she could later on pick up a box of commercial ammo to convert some field rooters to smoked bacon. :D

Also put the garandgear plug on mine. People seemed to review it highly and it didn't require any adjusting. Seemed well worth the forty or so bucks.

A Garand needs it's bayonet. You really don't need bullets if you have a bayonet. Well, it sorta seems that way.

Since I feed two Garands and reload, I "saved" $80 and bought 16 lbs of H4895, and 2,000 Hornady 150grn FMJ's and 2,000 CCI34's. Have "lifetime" supply of brass from lifetime of scrounging range brass. Also picked up 168gr bthpt for the occasional 600yd shots.
With proper loads, won't need gas plug...Found load that holds x- ring of 200yd target, it's Garand safe, too.
Yes I'm a cheap sob. Bought powder/primers on sale and special on hazmat (Grafs!). Now I've got 2,300 worth of components on hand. Now that gas is 1/2 what I was, now I just need time to drive to Talladega!
Did I mention I like to shoot my Garands?

I have one in 1 of my Garands. Works OK. If your going to buy and shoot commercial ammo that's not rated for a Garand it's a must.
