Any point to owning a 9mm AK?

Militaries find the need for 9mm carbines, so do LE departments. Is this a trick question?

Maybe "nuanced" is a better description than "trick." I don't think we're really talking about whether or not a military or LE department needs a PCC, but, as a civilian who doesn't assault objectives or rescue high-value targets, is an AK styled PCC a good fit?

Why would we need lesser weaponry than the military? You may need them for the same reason they do.

Why do you think different means less?

I’m not taking a platoon over the trenches or air assaulting into a hot LZ. YMMV

I had 2 9mm carbines in my collection. Found that I really only "need" 1 9mm carbine. Trade my CZ Scorpion off for a set of 5 Method Jeep wheels and kept my Ruger PC 9mm carbine.

Other that shooting fun and maybe some goofy competition, there is no situation where I would grab a 9mm carbine over a 223 mag fed semi-auto rifle.

I'd say "no" to the AK in favor of a 9mm AR15 platform, for the same reason that I sold my 7.62X39 Saiga and bought a 7.62X39 upper for an AR. The AR is easier for me to maintain, generally more accurate than an AK, and has many more options for customization. I sometimes regret selling the Saiga, simply from a "cool" standpoint, but then I remember why I sold it and still logically agree that I should have sold it.

I'm just messing with you:) Own one if you want one, but I'd always side with a rifle caliber...

It should be a fun gun, so why not if you want one. I'd prefer my 9MM AR, but that's just me.

I love my Sig 556 Classic, and it's an AK design .223.

I don't see a point in owning any AK, esp. one in 9mm. A 9mm carbine in an AR format or one of those Rugers would make a lot more sense to me.

The great thing about living in 'merica (at least for now) is you get to define what your needs are.
I've had a couple 9mm PCCs and I always run into the same problem that for a cheap trainer/plinker a 22LR is cheaper and more accurate and for any use that I think a 22 lacks power I'd just as soon use my 5.56 or 300 blackout.

The Kalashinov-based 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbines have the reputation of having softer recoil and quick sight picture recovery.

I have had 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Makarov, and .380 ACP pistols in my possession but do not own anything 9mm currently.
