I have been looking at the 22TVM/9mm, and like what I see as far as what they are supposed to be able to do. I am just curious as to weather they are really reliable, and if the 9mm ammo feeds properly. I have read various reports with conflicting information, so I thought the best way was to ask someone who reatlly owned one. If any of you guys have a 1911 version, I would be interested in knowing what you think.

i've had mine for several years, and while i don't shoot it much ,when i do it's very reliable. i think the reports of problems are mostly from the early guns , ammo and conversion kits. i think they make one for a glock. i reload for it using lil gun. don't recall the amount.
BTW there is a sub listing on one of the 1911 forums for Rock island armory/ 22TCM pistols. you'll have to do a search.

I have been shooting the .22 TCM for 3 years. It is a great handgun. We have shot Prairie Dogs with the .22 TCM. The 40 grs. bullet sighted 1"+ at 25 is 1"- at 100 yds.
I did not buy the 9MM conversion too many 9MMs already.

I have the 22TCM/9MM combo. 22TCM is a lot of fun to shoot. It draws a lot of attention, sounds like a big magnum going off but feels like a 22 magnum. The handgun is real reliable in both 22TCM and 9MM as long as you are shooting round nose bullets with the 9 barrel.

Not a lot of reloading data out there yet that I have found. I have reloaded the 22 TCM using WW296 and Lil Gun powder with Hornady 45 grain Bee bullets successfully.

On a side note, I used the pistol with the 9 barrel when I first started shooting USPSA Limited Minor. I put over 5,000 rounds through it without any problems.

I have all the TCMs. Well, not really, but I have single stack 1911, double stack 1911, and rifle all covered.

I had to send one back to Pahrump because it simply wouldn't feed 9mm. Not even an attemp. It was OK with TCM but 9mm would jam and hammer the bullets into the cases 100% of the time. They sent me a shipping label, then a month and change later fedex dropped off a new gun with the feed ramp on the barrel instead of frame at my house.

Obviously, i like it. What details would you like?

Ed Ames, The RI 1911 pistol is excellent. The medium priced Rock Island 1911 is accurate and trouble free. The .22 TCM rifle was big disappointment. It was not accurate. I had it accurized by a dependable shop in Morgan, Ut. It was still only a semi accurate rifle. I think the twist rate may be the problem.

My TCM rifle isn't the most accurate, I'll agree. Then again I'm more of a handgun person so that could be me.

My TCM (combo) 1911s have, with the aforementioned exception, been reliable fun.

Ed, Rock Island announced an AR 15 chambered in .22 TCM. It has never been marketed? There are a some shops converting AR 15 uppers to the .22 TCM. They are working out very well.

I have the RIA TCM 1911 with both barrels. First up is the 9mm barrel. The recoil is much less than a 45 ACP in a 1911 but it shot very high with the sights as they were (about 5 inches high). It turns out that the sights are dialed in for the 22 TCM and the 9mm groups much higher. I did not experience a malfunction of any kind with 9mm or 22 TCM. With the 22 TCM barrel the recoil is a joke, but man is it loud and flashy. I produces a huge deep "BOOM" with each shot. It is a different noise then the one produced by with my snubbie S&W 44 magnum. The 44 Magnum is more like a lightening bolt crack and this is like a sonic boom or a super loud base drum. I also cannot stress how little perceived recoil the gun produces. I am pretty sure I could dump a mag in a heartbeat with almost no muzzle rise.

I would have a hard time justifying a full sized AR in TCM, though if the upper was priced right it would easily beat the RIA bolt gun. TCM is probably perfect territory for a beefed up version of the EAA Appeal, but that will never happen.

I'll say my experience with probably two dozen different RIA 1911s has been very mixed. Probably close to half of them have gone back to the factory for warranty work shortly after receiving them. What I tell everyone who looks at the RIA guns is that they shouldn't be surprised or upset if their gun has an issue right out of the box. The company is excellent when it comes to warranty repairs, but just know going into the purchase that you might be needing to use that warranty service.
