Any shooting disciplines where women generally score higher than men?

I've seen some ladies shooting in rimfire silhouette that are just about unbeatable- someone told me that because of wider hips they have an advantage with the left elbow tucked into the body for that discipline- I've studied their hip positions at length and am just amazed, and sometimes not even at the range :neener:

I don't want to ruffle any feathers, but men ARE more physical than women and have evolved to be so. Men (and this is always on the average) display better hand-eye coordination than women and have quicker "fast-twitch"-type reflexes. While there are plenty of women out there who are stand-outs, the top slots in all shooting sports are held by men and would be held by men even if more women were competing.

On the other hand, it's SO MUCH easier to teach the basics to a woman and have her shooting well because women don't have ego and machismo wrapped up in guns that men do. I've even seen beginning male shooters flinch voluntarily because (I think) that they are used to playing with toy guns as kids and making a "recoil motion" or because they have some shooting gesture as adults accompanied by the "recoil motion". One guy I taught had a two-stage flinch wherein you could actually SEE the recoil of the handgun bring the gun up to a certain point and THEN, instead of fighting the recoil DOWN immediately, the guy unconsciously brought it up MORE before bringing it down to his line of aim again.

That would be what I alluded to by bone structure in Olympic Air Rifle. You basically have a single line of bone coming from the hand, wrist, forearm, through the elbow to the hip, and from the hip straight down your forward leg to the feet and ground. All the weight is taken by the bone structure.

Now, I'm thin as a rake, I can still rest my elbow on my hip bone without too much trouble. A lot of men, however, are a bit more padded in that area and have difficulty.

NTM

I don't have a good answer to your question, but I can answer why women are perceived as being better natural shooters - because they take instruction better than men. Or I should say, from my own experience, little girls take riflery instruction better than little boys. I don't know if this is cultural or genetic.

Since so many others have stayed greatly from the exact topic, I'll add an anecdote - little annie oakley.
