I'm about to start making my version of leather/kydex IWB and belt holsters. Need a name, crossbreed is taken, my wife said my idea "Half-Breed" is offensive! How about Turtle (Soft underbelly and hard shell) ??
Or, something that sounds the same or reminds you of a turtle??
Any ideas welcome!

The Tortuga, The Armadillo, The Hybrid....

Thats all I've got.

Chris "the Kayak-Man" Johnson

Mutant Ninja Turtle!!

Sounds way Tackycool!
Especially if you are old enough to remember Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, & Raphael.

On the other hand, Viacom probably still has a copy right on the name.

Then there is Tortoise, Terrapin, Testudine, Leatherback, and Snapper.

If you use it, do I get a freeby for a SIG P232 SL!! :D

I wouldn't go with Mutant Ninja Turtle, but Terrapin or Terrapin hybrid sounds cool...

Lone Rider is a pretty good name. Lone Rider Kydex holster sounds good too.

I recently bought one of these and they are great, nice if I could pick up the holster and belt combo in one place, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Lone Rider Leather Products
This is as good as any of the names here. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on coming up with a name that reflects soft leather and hard kydex. I've known about Crossbreed's SuperTuk for years, and just now made the connection that Crossbreed is a reference to the combination of leather and kydex.

I'd stay away from "Half-Breed" because you might come across as blatantly ripping off Crossbreed. There might not be anything legally wrong with that, but it's possible some customers will avoid you because of it.

Also, remember that you don't know what the future holds. Is it impossible that you'll eventually make all-leather holsters? If it's a possibility, you may not want to limit yourself to a name describing a certain product. Maybe take the angle of what you want your image to be. If you're after the mall ninja crowd (and there's nothing wrong with that), give yourself a "tacticool" name. If you want to be taken more seriously, then keep that in mind. Personally, I think a name based on your image (rather than your product) is the best way to go.

Galco, Blackhawk!, Don Hume... these names represent something. Your customer will either identify you with your name, or identify himself with your name. Keep that in mind.

Good luck.

I make mostly Cowboy Action Gunleather. It's a little slow and is a small market. Thought I'd expand the line and offer "Carry" type leather. And Yes, I will also make leather "Carry" stuff too!

OK, back to the drawing board - a name for your holster. Well anything having to do with a turtle sounds kind of silly, not to be taken seriously. How about model numbers?

"Yeah I got me a Lone Rider Model 4 cuz its a little more flexible than the Model 3 and I prefer tan instead of black..."

I've got it!

Call it the "Hide-Bred" or something like that - especially if you make conceal carry type holsters (hide) or also because it refers to leather hides and as a play on the word "hybrid" I think that covers it.

New version, little more room to grip pistol and a little shorter slide sweat guard to keep it from rolling over. This one is for a SIG.

Retention adjustable with rubber washers and screws, Kydex not riveted on!

I like that the kydex shell is already canted.

How many notches for adjusting the ride depth on the clips? I definitely don't want the gun riding too high.

3 holes to move clips with on each side, adjusts ride height and cant. Clips alos stand off from the backing to make it 'tuckable!!
