Hey guys, I was told about a relatively new round by federal that has their flight control system and is a #1 buckshot (15 pellets if I remember correctly). My buddy said it was an excellent round, but I can't seem to find what he is talking about. He also mentioned it is a lower recoil round. It sounded perfect for HD, but not sure where to find it. Does anyone here know what he might be talking about? If so, where can I buy it (assuming it ever comes in stock hehe)?

Yeah, me too ! I have been looking for (and waiting on backorders from Streichers) this for 6 months.

Timing is obviously bad, and lots of this ammo is purchased by law enforcement I am being told.

Fantasyland?

I have yet to see it on any shelves, I attempted to purchase ten boxes from GT Distributors, the website said it was in stock, ordered it and 2 minutes later received an email that it was out of stock and backordered.

Of course right now everything is scarce but Federal Flitecontrol #1 was hard to find before the election.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Unconfirmed, but word is Federal has devoted sales of FC #1 primarily to law enforcement, where demand is supposedly (and understandably) high.

When production ramps up, it's expected to become more widely available to civilians.

Confirmed is that for whatever reason I haven't seen it available anywhere.

That's what happened to hst so no surprise there.

Still looking for fc in #4 buck

It's the unicorn, the white whale for 12ga ammo. I don't expect to see any anytime soon.
I'll just have to make do with the 00 buck, #4 buck, and slugs I have stockpiled.

Walmart carries Winchester #1 BK 2&3/4" 1250fps shells. It is well-balanced load worth trying out. Nicely balanced load in terms of weight, velocity, pressure doesn't need special 'flight control system'.

Not so much a matter of "doesn't need..." as "doesn't feature the benefits of..."

The FC wad does make a very dramatic difference (as shown in the "BOT" web page above), though strictly speaking, the benefits to a defensive shooter really appear to take hold at distances of 20 yds. and over.

I had some of the best "spreads" from fixed Remi choked barrel with lowly Rottweil 2&3/4" un-plated and un-buffered SG shot. It was loaded to moderate velocity and CIP pressures.

Right, ok.

Did it pattern like the the flight control patterns in the BOT report? (One hole out to about 15-20 yds.) If not, then it really isn't a direct alternative to that product.

I'm not sure I'd exactly require that for my home defense purposes. But if that's what you want, they sure seem to have built a product to which nothing else comes close to equaling.
