Just shy of two-thirds down the page is a table of ammunition available with this heading:

"200 Yard Accuracy Slugs
(Smooth bore barrels only) 4" group & 4" drop at 200 yards"

Alright, so I've heard that these guys make one heck of a Hevi-Shot turkey load, but claiming 4" groups at 200 yards with a shotgun slug from a smoothbore barrel :what: ??? With only 4" of drop :what: ???

So, anybody tried them? They aren't too ridiculous in price. About like regular sabot slugs, around $2 per round.

Nope.

Then again I am probably the only idiot that has yet to try any of the Low Recoil offerings.

I wouldn't want to rush into anything or nothing. I mean I still like shooting paper hulled loadings... :p

Ask me about the Activ shells...that I know something about.

Hmmm

200 yards with only a 4" drop ? ? ?

BTW, isn't Hevi-Shot a CopyRight or TradeMark of Remington?

I think Heve-Shot is the property of Environ Metal Inc. Regardless, the Nitro Company loads it. As does Remington, as well as Environ Metal, who loads and sells thier own Hevi-Shot loads.

You're not the only one.

I know I'm slow. Heck, I've never owned a Glock either.

JohnBT,

Never owned a Glock either. Wanna start a new Club with memberships or something? Everyone else seems to be doing so. :p

I dunno. I've always been one to 1) if it sounds too good - it probably is. 2) Mr Pattern board defines what works for what task - not what the barrel, choke, or box of ammo 'says'. 3) Once I find the load(s) - tend to stick with them.

Because a) if it ain't broke don't fix it, b) Stuff I tested was bought local - so I know I can get it again ( most likely), c) The old stuff has remained the same, the teething pains are way past - new stuff has been known to change up/ or cease to exist.

Then there is that Reprobate part I'm guilty of too. :D

Now that DO look interesting. No dice on the Hornady offering, it's a sabot bullet and requires a rifled barrel, and no way am I giving up the shot option. But the Nitro slug definitely says smooth bore only. Wonder if by chance there is a choke restriction on them?? Would be good to know that as well.

I'm gonna have to keep an eye on that one. At $2 each in a 25 round box I won't be buying them by the case of 250 as I do most shotgun ammo, but it might be worth it if they perform as advertised. The way ammo technology is advancing I may get to stop worrying about MOD chokes in working gun barrels after all. Having both a low recoil buck load effective out to 50 yards and a slug that will make 200 would make me change my old fashioned ways in a hurry. May be time to put on the lab coat again and start experimenting...

Thanks much for the post, prolly wouldn't have seen this for a bit if left to my own surfing.
