For those looking to bash Hi-Points, please save it. Plenty of other threads for that. I know they're folks who've carried them and I'd like to know their experience good or bad. On a whim I've ordered a shoulder holster for my Hi-Point as an alternative to my regular carry.

my lgs has all of them for 75.00 he bought 5 not being racist or anything but he said black people were the only ones to buy them

I don't personally carry one and I have not shot one, but not because I don't want to. I wouldn't mind getting a Hi-Point, not as my sidearm to protect my life, but as another gun in the collection. Something to take out shooting and have some fun with. If you want reviews from actual Hi-Point owners, this is the Hi-Point Forum. Pretty much all positive feedback there.

They are Made in America, in Ohio actually. They have a no questions asked, full lifetime warranty. How many other gun companys have a warranty like that? If it breaks, just bring it back and they'll replace or fix it.

i have carried a Hi Point 45acp in a sholder holster (for a ruger p89) when scouting around in the woods from time to time. i didnt have any back problems after doing so. but i have put around 1500rds through it with no problems. from what i hear from the experts (gun snobs?), im due for it to go jihad on my arse.

I got one on a trade ages ago, and kept it around for giggles, but I never even considered carrying it. Huge, ungainly, craptacular trigger, etc.

Not to mention, I have always owned a whole stable of guns vastly better suited to carry than a $100 Hi-Point. It's a range toy, AFAIK.

LOL!!!! At best its a truck gun or an ungainly paper weight. The only and I mean ONLY time I have ever seen a hi-point carried was with a friend of mine when a group of us went boar hunting. He knew little about guns and got it cause it was the cheapest .45 in the store. To add insult to injury he had a holster which wasn't anywhere close to being fitted for the hi-point. Needless to say we all had a good laugh.

I don't own any of the Hi-Point offerings, but I think that I have shot most of the different models over the years. Certainly not the most AP {Aesthetically Pleasing} guns out there (Read as "Man, this is one pig-butt ugly gun!"); however, those I have tried always went Bang! on request.

Is this a serious question? The things are pretty hefty, and how shall we say, "dimensionally supple."

We carry them in the store here, but I don't think I could get away with carrying one if I wanted to. Too big, too heavy. If you think you can, more power to you. I'll stick with my BHP.

Waiting for mine to come back.

Just sent mine off to the Hi Point Custom shop for some "mods." Then I'll carry it when it gets back.:p

I wouldn't trust one with my life. Also even if I did, It would be like carrying around a masonry brick .

One problem with the Hi Point is it's a striker fired gun and I don't carry a striker fired gun any other way than condition THREE for safety reasons. So, I would not carry a Hi Point for defense for that reason. I don't want to take the time to rack the slide. I just wanna put the trigger and BANG, no slide manipulation.

I'll save the derogatory comments. :D I think there's a place for the Hi Point, but that place ain't in my gun cabinet or holster, we'll just put it that way. They seem to be reliable guns and the niche is for the poor folk that need protection and can afford nothing more, or at least that's how I see it. They do have a lifetime warranty and I hear they back their stuff. If you just wanted a fun gun, they'd probably be an okay plinker, but I've got enough guns to plink with and don't need another plinker and I really prefer revolvers anyway for plinking, or .22s, don't have to chase the brass around.

Not everyone has the money in their budget for anything more expensive. It's cheap, it's ugly, but it works. My only complaint is the lack of an ambidextrous safety.

Hi-Point goes bang.

The problem is that the Hi-Point 45 is ENOURMOUS, heavy, and nobody makes a holster for it.

Interestingly enough, the three MOST important charateristics of a good carry gun are compact concealable design, light weight, and a holster.

Funny choice for carry

I actually have about 1000 rounds through a 9mm C-9 version High Point. It shoot good and has low recoil. The 45 is a big chunker. I could conseal my PLR-16 kel-tec as easy as that chunk - about 2 1/2 inches wide.

I'm not a gun snob, and my G-17 is winter carry, and Kel-tec P11 down to P3-AT for FL summer carry jobs depending on clothing/weather. I don't mind shooting that Hi-Point at all, very reliable so far. Will it last as long as my colt or Glock? Nope, but for 120.00, I can't buy a month of ammo for the cost of the gun alone. I'd consider it disposable, not carry.

If it's sucky enough to have it buried in the Sonoran Desert (I still remember :D ), it's probably best not to own.

Myself, I've not shot one. Handled them, yes. But I value my limbs and life enough to not feel the need to try one out.

Snobbish? Only slightly so. Everyone has standards. ;)
