6.5-08 (260 Remington) ??

I'm considering moving one of my sporterized Type 38's this way because of the overly generous military chamber.

Seems it is not a lot of metal to remove ... Mostly some radial and moving the shoulder forward.

Thoughts, comments always welcome

Conversions have been done either to .260 or the more popular conversion to a 6.5 x57 Roberts.

You may also need to alter the bolt head for the .308 case family as the case head Arisaka 6.5x50 is a bit smaller in diameter. Accuracy also may not be great as the T38 Arisakas use Metford type rifling and bore diameters wander around a bit. Type 38 twist rates also have been reported to vary by year of production either 1-7.88, 1-9. or even 1-8.375. See http://www.bevfitchett.us/modern-rifles/bullet-rff.html and the castboolits website.

I have rechambered to .260. I have no idea how the gun shot after the conversion, but the headspace was correct.
