Does anyone else have boxes of accessories and whatnot overflowing all over the place that are filled with miscellaneous shooting accessories?
I do. I have boxes and ammo cans and wooden crates with a multitude of different kinds of stripper clips and magazines in them, some of which are for guns that I haven't even bought yet. I have grips for a Bisley that is also on my wish list and other accessories that are for guns that are long gone and still other stuff that just gets in the way now that I have moved on to different techniques. I have scopes that I pulled off because I now prefer iron sights. I have a shelf in the basement that is dedicated to about seven different calibers of brass that are in various stages of being reloaded, and this is what is left over after I went through it and traded a bunch of it to a local shop for a box of ammo and a set of reloading dies.
Does anyone else suffer from this condition?
Just wondered.

It's always best to get several opinions. Send a third to Hawkmoon, a third to Eightball and a third to me. I promise to carefully diagnose the issue and get back to you with a solution.

Shooooooooooooooot...just revel in your manly gun junk!

I have boxes full of gun stuff, and paraphernalia, and odds & ends...and you know what...every once in a while...a friend, or I actually find something in one of the aforementioned boxes we need or can use!

Hell, two years ago, I assembled two, TWO mind ya, 1911's from PARTS!

I only needed to actually buy a sear kit for one of them, and a new slide stop (the one in the box didn't engage).

One of my junk drawer specials shoots 3" groups at 25 yds, and t'other will shoot 5" groups at 25 yds...not too bad for assembled mixes of old parts. Heck, maybe someday, I will put a tighter bushing on the 5" gun, and even get them re-blued or something!

I even found a set of early N-Frame Magna grips and a Tyler "T-Grip" for my friend's 3 1/2" Model 27.

Love your gun junk, accept your gun junk, feel the triumphant pounding of your heart as you dig into your collection of stuff, and find a dusty grip screw for a Hi Power your buddy needs! Thump your chest and howl at the moon brother!

OH OH OH

I wish I had enough guns and enough gun parts to be able to complete a feat like that. Any chance you'd sell one o' dem 1911s? :p

Ughh. I am getting there. I have a dumpster being delivered tomorrow to clean out the garage and get rid of old motorcycle and car parts. The wife will kill me if I replace that stuff with gun stuff. Heck I might even be able to park a running car in the garage after this. Yeah right. Im suck a redneck.

To an extent. I've got a chest that is a mess, full of cleaning gear, mags, ammo, and tools. My bigger problem is cycling gear, which far outnumbers my gun gear. I've got helmets, tubes, shoes, clothes, tools, 3 bikes, racks for the vehicles, parts, cleaning gear....its certainly out of control.

I have a receiver cover for an SKS. I don't own an SKS, and I never have. I have a firing pin and spring for a 1911. Again, don't own one and never have. I have a magazine for a... something in what I think is .32. I don't own a pistol in .32, and, all together now, I never have. The list goes on...

I do, however, want a 1911, so I might have a use for the pin and spring. I suppose I might need the .32 magazine for a PPK (I'm fairly certain it's a PPK mag), which I also want. If anybody needs a receiver cover for an SKS, let me know.

I have that problem. Was looking through boxes the other day and realized I have enough 10/22 parts to build a complete 10/22.

Another gun forum I frequent has a "Pay It Forward" program to help get rid of gun junk. Basically you post a list of your gun junk, and other members can claim it, and you send it to them. Then they post a list of their gun junk, others claim pieces, and they send it, etc.

I think the pay it forward idea is an outstanding one, and we should do it here too! Holsters, scope rings, rifle stocks, pistol grip panels, and slings mainly here. But nobody would want or need the *pile o' gun safety locks -N- scope covers*, I don't think.

I'm for the gun junk list too. I also have a extra SKS top cover for some reason. But I also buy stuff from gunstore junk boxes for guns I don't even own yet if the price is right.

Check those junk boxes, there is trash and treasure. One benefit of owning a large number of guns is that if a odd lot of ammo or accesorries comes up at a good price you likely can take avantage.

I have a Colt Offficers model 38spl revolver(cracked forcing cone) I might be willing to part out too.

Moonclip, I know what you mean about the junk boxes at gun stores. Last week I found a 9 round factory mag for my nieces Glock 33 in .357 SIG for $5.00. I found a Burris mount for my T/C Contender for $1.00. Keep digging!!

The pay it forward idea sounds pretty cool. I do have some stuff that I can't sell no matter how little I ask for it. I would almost have to pay someone to take some of it. It isn't that it is really that useless or defective, it is just that alot of these things are small items that are really just about too much trouble to worry about trying to sell.
I have a few of the items that could actually be sold up for sale now but I still need to go through some of it yet. I am trying to turn some of it (in particular the scopes and some brass but maybe some other stuff too) into some money that I can put toward some more gun junk that I want. As I said though, the rest of it is utterly useless to me and not likely to be sold to anyone else.
I have thought about just boxing it up and taking it to the local shop and just giving it to them. I doubt that I could even trade it all for a box of primers.
OTOH, I would much rather have a bunch of grips, holsters, bipods, and extra brass lying around than I would knitting paraphenalia.

BTW - I still go through the junk boxes at gunshops. I know that it is kind of like buying stuff at a yard sale to sell at your own yard sale, but I just can't seem to help myself.

My main problem is with reload 'orphans'

For some unexplicable reason, I'll go to the range and shoot up all of my loads except 3 or 4 of them. The next time I reload, I might change my load, and I end up putting the orphans into a ziplock bag with a label as to which rifle they go to. I never end up shooting them, and I never get around to pulling their bullets either.

I work at a gun shop, so my personal junk boxes are potential parts bins for work. Of course, the reverse is true. I usually end up with some bargain here or there form the parts bins at work. ;)

got any remington 11-48 parts?

I'll take those..

I inhereted one that my grandad didn't take care of too well. the receiver and the forearm are about the only pieces not bunked up.

If you have parts lying around for this it'll go to a good restoration cause...
