Anyone else have a problem with "gun junk"?

Yes, I have a lot of stuff taking up space. Lets see, Hogue Mono Grip for the Redhawk (did not like it, went back to stock grips), stock Blackhawk grips, some FAL tools I thought I needed but did not, a spare M1 operating spring, a bunch of AR 15 gas tube pins, a spare CAR 15 gas tube, AR 15 extended latch release (don't have the correct punch to install), replacement Redhawk springs, M14 magazine spring, M14 magazine follower, tons of brass in different stages of reloading, and lots more. Some of this stuff I will use in time and some of it I probably won't.

I just don't like selling stuff for a pittance or throwing it out.

I have been thinking about the same thing.

I have a similar situation, and here is something to consider. I am married, and I have a 5 month old son. My wife has NO idea what my various firearms are worth. (I am POSITIVE I am not alone here. :D ) Anyway, If I were to die, she would get screwed trying to sell things. Her is what I have decided to do. I have all the serial numbers for all of my guns recorded, (and this is not kept in my gunsafe with the firearms.) With the list, I have written the approximate value of how much each weapon would cost to replace (basically the retail price.) In addition, I have bought ziplock bags with the opague freezer labels on them, and intend to label and mark all of my various parts and accessories. This may be a good plan for you?

It's always a good idea to organize your spare parts. :) What she will do with them in the unlikely event of your demise is still the central issue. ;)

BeLikeTrey, you're lucky. Often, the forends on 11-48's are cracked. ;) Many of the parts interchange with the 58, 1100, and 11-87, some even with the 870, BTW. I have plenty of trigger group pins for them, as a result of installing scope mounts over the years. More than a few 3-shot plugs, too.

need

1148 Barrel (don't ask)
and buttstock

and one last thing is it supposed to kick like a rabid mule??? :uhoh: OWIE!
still got red marks from last weekend on my shoulder

After more than forty years of accumulation, yeah. I mean, it's 'mostly' organized to some degree or another and I can generally find what I'm looking for with only minor digging but I still keep running across stuff that I'd even forgotten that I ever had.

Grips, holsters, parts, stocks, magazines - pretty much you-name-it. Geez, I've even found ammo that I no longer have anything to shoot with.

Sometimes I think that I really ought to just buy a table at the next 1500 and see what all I could turn back into cash. Unfortunately, I'd probably end up bringing home more junk than I left with

Does anyone else suffer from this condition?
Yes. If you find a cure, let me know.

Right now my wife and I are having a discussion on this. She wants the junk cleaned up. I want a 'gun room'. One of our kids is moving out at the start of the school year, and we are negotiating on the room.

I'm working on converting the closet in the guest bedroom to a gun closet. Plus, I can use a fold up table in that room on "gun cleaning day"....hey, at least the room will actually be USED ! Same goes for the dining room...I mean, c'mon.....how many times is that room actually used ?

yepand still collecting actuallyy had to buy another tool box for the bench to put it in ,and if I ever get remarried ( doubtful) or if my girlfreind ever looks in one of my dressers in the bedroom I am going to hear about that too .
