Anyone ever have a dog afraid of guns?

My grandfather had a beagle named Elvis that ran rabbits every day. He bragged on ol Elvis to everyone until we took him out with other dogs. Elvis was a loner. Wouldn't hunt with the pack, but would run the hair off of a bunny when he was alone. Then came the day that we shot a rabbit that he was chasing. Elvis left the building, or the field as it were. He was under the truck when we found him. Never did make a gun dog.

My boy thats in the photo, he's not afraid of sirens, thunder & lightening, or fireworks. But the minute he sees you with the vacuum, he becomes a ghost. Same with the garden hose. I don't take my dogs shooting with me, so don't know. .
