I guess it depends on what you want to call it. It is almost identical to the 30mauser, which can be used, but not a good idea since some of the 30mauser ammo was pretty hot.
I have actually loaded some .308 bullets in my CZ52, but it did loose a little accuracy.
The Tok round headspaces on the shoulder, so sizing is more important than trimming.
My CZ52 has a tight bore but a loose chamber compared my M57, so I don't usually have to trim for it, but I do for the M57.
Max pressure for the Tok is 34k, max for the 30mauser is 37k.30 Mauser is not as hot as 7.62x25. Don't shoot Tok ammo in a Mauser, but 30 Mauser (7.63x25) is fine in a Tokarev.

While you are correct that most 30mauser ammo was loaded light, not all was.
(30 mauser is
the Sammi name for 7.63mauser)
I still say that depends on what ammo you are using. My experience is the domestic Tok ammo is not as hot as the European/Russian ammo and the Chinese ammo is all over the spectrum, but still not as hot as the European.I have to agree that the Tokarev is hotter. That's why there are so many warnings about using the 7.62 in C96s.
and armor piercing too
I seen were Tok factory surplus ammo penetrating L3 body armorArmor piercing depends on what bullet you load.
And yes I reload them. Good brass is short enough that they don't need to be trimmed.
But maybe eventually they will
I may have to start loading for it...
last weekend I shot up some of my old surplus stuff and was finding duds, and a ton of split necks upon firing
Take a needle bearing from a U-joint, drill and insert it in a PRVI 85gr hollow point and see what it does to 1/4" steel plate.I shot some surplus a couple weeks ago. All went bang and most had split case necks, but the necks have always been like that with the surplus I have.
As far as armor piercing, this surplus ammo leaves well defined dimples in 1/4 inch steel. 9mm just leaves a splatter mark. Both are fmj with lead core. Surplus tok ammo is some nasty stuff!
what does it do?Take a needle bearing from a U-joint, drill and insert it in a PRVI 85gr hollow point and see what it does to 1/4" steel plate.
would love to see that!I'll have to do it again and take video. I'm not 100% if what I used was 1/4 or 3/16, I'll see if it's still in my scrap heap. It went thru, 9mm did not, 40sw did not, didn't have a 10mm at the time so I'll have to try that too.
