I live on a military base where loading and unloading must be done off the installation, and I am looking at the LCR for CCW. I don't want to be juggling loose rounds in the car just after driving out the gate, or just before driving on. So, I found a couple places (Clark & TK Custom)that can modify the LCR for moon clips. After use THR's search tool, I didn't find much on this.

Has anyone done this? Any direct experience with either modifying a revolver for moon clips or these two companies?

TK Custom does stellar work. He modified two of my guns and I have no complaints at all.

I wouldn't hesitate to have him do another.

Tom knows his stuff.

OP have you considered Speed strips for your spares or are you doing a caliber conversion?

Speed strips sound like a cheap solution but I've seen moon clips in action and a practiced shooter with them can reload fast.

No caliber conversion...just trying to minimize the time and fumbling around the car going out and in the base gate to my house. Speed strips seem great for loading, but not so much for unloading before going on the installation.

Unless you are just looking for an excuse to buy a gun or hire a gunsmith...
Preload some speedloaders or speed strips.
Going in, unload the gun, dump the rounds in a sack, go to the housing.
Going out, load with a speedloader.
Refill speedloaders "administratively" at leisure.
All it needs is enough speedloaders to cover your anticipated trips for a couple of days.

I hear the points on UNloading the gun.
I had a 9mm D&W revolver that was cool but IMHO the clips were bulkier to carry and prone to bending; which could tie up the cylinder. YMMV
