Some folks here need to slow down and think about what they're saying. Carrying a concealed firearm without a state mandated permit is the equivalent of murder and larceny. Really now?
I don't see it the crimes as being equal in moral deficiency, I'm just looking at legal ramifications. Let me comment on my state. Carrying concealed illegally is a class 2 misdemeanor offense. Do I see it as being just as bad as some other class 2 misdemeanors such as resisting an officer or simple assault? No. But, in the eyes of the law the crimes are equal.
While needing concealed carry permits seems wrong to many of us, the fact remains that should we choose to ignore local legislation we are committing a misdemeanor. If I were to somehow get caught committing that misdemeanor, I lose my job due to legal requirements. For me, it isn't a tough call since I need my job to provide for my family. Should I spend $100 every few years or risk getting a misdemeanor every time I leave my house carrying? Let's just say it didn't take me long to come to a decision.
There is also the fact that should I end up with said misdemeanor, I will have serious issues expanding my firearm collection in the future!
