Anyone shoot 38-55?

I have seen one listed for trade for about 2 months and have been contemplating this. It is a Miroku Winchester NIB 94. I don't know why exactly I would want to start another caliber to load for. I don't have any firearms in this caliber class(i.e. 30-30, 32 special, etc). The only rifle caliber lever gun I have is 45-70. So is there anyone who loads and hunts with this caliber?

They are a sweet cartridge. I have two of them. A 94 Winchester rifle and an 1885 single shot. Both shoot well.

i have a marlin cowboy in 38-55 and its a good shooter. 250 cast gr bullets at 1700 fps.

I have a Marlin and a Win Big Bore in 375….
And I do have 2 boxes of 38-55 ammo

I have an old Win 94 with the octagon barrel in 38-55 and enjoy loading and shooting it. My Dad took deer with it as well as myself so she is a special rifle to me. I shoot gas checked 265 gr lead out of mine and she is accurate. I love hearing that lead slap that target at 100 yds...

Like Eastbank I have a Marlin cowboy also. I bought it to complement my 45-70 cowboy. The 38-55 gets more use because it’s more comfortable for me to shoot.

we have the marlin cowboy 38-55 as well. It's been at my uncle's for a long time, so I'm going by memory, but it points and handles great. I remember we had some accuracy issues, and I read an article about it in some magazine. Something to do with brass thickness and modern bullets. Whatever the case, starline brass fixed the problems. Winchester Single Shot, rebored from .32-40 with 15" twist for 335 gr bullet. Still not enough oomph for 46 pound metallic silhouette rams at 500 yards, so I bought a .40-65.

I buy .375" 220 gr flat nosed bullets, and load them to 1750 fps in my .375 H&H...... Does that count?

I have a 45.70 and a 30.30. A friend’s Dad got a 38.55 due to recoil. I started doing some research…38.55, 32 Win, 30.30 and 25.35 all from the 38.55 brass. Saw that Hornady came out with the 38.55 and 25.35 in their LeveRevolution. I need to get those two! 32 never really sang to me.
