I read a brief overview of Bianchi pistol matches...and it sounded a lot like IDPA. Of course, USPSA now has a Single Stack division (albiet provisional) that's a lot like IDPA. Out here in California, we have Steel Madness, which is like USPSA but with steel targets. I really love all the opportunities to compete but I wonder if we really need all these organizations. Anyway, has anyone ever tried Bianchi and if so, is it really that different from IDPA/IPSC?

Bianchi or NRA action pistol is very different from USPSA and IDPA..

there are four courses of fire in a match..
barricade event, practical event, falling plates and the mover.
a match is 192 rounds, 48 for each event.

each one is fired fixed time, rounds are fired from fixed distances from 10yards to 50 yards.

The match is a very precision oriented event where the win is usually decided by X count.

you are right...there are a lot of competition events for firearms..so lots of choices and lots of areas too play..not really a case of too many...but we all need to learn to respect each others sport and support each other in our endeavors.

Where I am at you have a choice between USPSA, IDPA, Bullseye and Cowboy Action. Most of the same people shoot USPSA and IDPA. I don't have time to shoot Bullseye and Cowboy Action. But I would if I did. Variety is the spice of life.
