I like a couple different options for accurate semi-auto shooting.
First is Federal Gold Medal load number 719. It runs at 1200 fps which seems to cycle more reliably in my autoloaders than the subsonic loads. It also shoots about as well in any of my firearms as any other high velocity ammo out there, regardless of cost. At no more than $4 a box it certainly isn't bulk pack prices, but it certainly doesn't break the bank.
Another option is CCI Minimags. They seem to be fairly accurate in my rifles. Never the best, but far from the worst. Again, not dirt cheap, but not break the bank as well.
Recently I have been playing with the CCI Tactical ammo. I know the name sounds ridiculous, but it feeds perfectly from all of my autoloaders and has been pretty much as accurate as Minimags and runs a little cheaper in the end. Ignoring the name, it works pretty well for the money.
Federal bulk pack certainly see their use. For the bulk (no pun intended) of my shooting the red box bulk packs are my main go to for the autoloaders and the blue box Champion 510 for bolt rifles. The 510 seems to shoot a bit better for me but doesn't always cycle an autoloader overly well. The standard bulk packs cycle better but shoot worse pretty much across the board.
I know that leaves a lot out. There are a ton of different choices that you could try from dirt cheap to borderline expensive. Getting out there and trying some out seems to be the best bet. For Appleseed though, I would go with something midgrade. Not the top tier match ammo, but something a little nicer than the bottom of the barrel bulk stuff either.
