Does anybody know what happened to it?? Even DPMS doesn't know why they don't carry it anymore. Sure was a great design--just open up the magazine's rear ridge guide to allow the 223 case to slide back into it, and the user can now load VLD bullets to magazine length easily. Now defunct???

Why would you want to shoot a VLD bullet at mag length anyways? Most of them shoot their best when jammed into the lands a bit.

No, the magazine let the bullets slip back into the recess where the mag release tab is. It gives you about 1/4" more useable length.
I'm using mine with the 65 JLK Low Drag, and it's performing wonderfully for me. Has a lot of VLD characteristics but flat based. using these bullets on coyotes has worked great for me even out to right around 500 yds., but in a hunting scenario it helps to have magazine capability.
