I'm brand new to the world of building a rifle from a kit, I was wondering, if i purchase this kit : http://palmettostatearmory.com/2252.php
What else will I need to complete it? and how difficult do you think it would be to put it together for a novice like myself. I do own several firearms and disassemble them for cleaning and what not, but i always have my manual ready in case i forget how to do something.

all you need is a stripped lower reciever and like 30 minutes, the hardest part is assembling the lower parts kit into the reciever but its still simple with a parts diagram.

Upper assembly requires a few specialized tools - they're assembling doing that for you.

A lower parts kit can be installed using a vise grip with taped jaws and a screwdriver ... 40 minutes for your first one (looking at the pics every 2 minutes), 15 minutes for all future ones. CHeck ARF.com for a couple of good pictorials.

Stock/buffer/spring - 2 minutes.

To make a functional rifle from that kit, you will also need a stripped lower receiver purchased from an individual or an FFL (all the normal firearm rules apply to the lower receiver), and a rear sight or optic/mount.

Assembly is easy enough if you are mechanically inclined, have good instructions in front of you, and have some basic hand tools. There are myriad instructions all over the internet.

you'll need exactly what it says a stripped lower receiver and you can pick one up for about 75 bucks just google em and their not that hard it should come with instructions theres some roll pins that you have to be careful with but all in all its not all that complicated

Kitt assembly

The ad states "Each upper is assembled to order..."

If the upper receiver is assembled (barrel installed) the rest is relatively simple. Barrel, flash hider, gas block installations require tools and some expertise but the lower is just a matter of parts install. The only tools needed are to tighten the buffer tube nut and roll pin punches to install bolt hold open and trigger guard.

You will need a stripped lower receiver to complete kit.

It can be done with no experience but it would be very helpful to have the assistance of someone who is familiar with the process.

any stripped lower will work including that one just google ar15 stripped lower and everyone and their mom makes one @AZ_Rebel it looks like the upper already has the gas tube and gas block already installed as well as the bolt carrier group already put together it looks like the all you have to do it put your lower together correct me if I'm wrong

Thank You

Thank you all for that information. Can't wait to purchase it, especially since there is a Independence day sale going on. Thanks again.

Yes. Some of their early receivers had issues, but it looks like they took care of them.

What kinds of issues?

Common thought is that the current ones are made for PSA by Aero Precision.

thats a great deal for what your getting chrome lined 1/7 hp/mp tested barrel bolt is hp/mp tested get your self a lower take your time putting it together you'll be fine

Do yourself a favor and download the instructions over ar15.com in the build it yourself section. There are a lot of good tips, like chasing out the spring holes for the detent pins. DO NOT try to assemble the lower over carpet or a messy workbench. You will spend the next hour trying to figure out a reverse azmuth and trajectory of a launched detent pin and spring.

If I recall correctly, there were some tight mag wells. I know of several newer owners with no problems so wouldn't be concerned.

not difficult at all

USA: i picked up a PSA lower and parts kit a few months ago and managed to put it together in about a half hour - and, I'm not the most mechanically inclined. As someone said, vice grips wrapped with tape will be your friend. In addition to the listed resources, check u-tube and Brownell's - excellent photos and step by step.

Good luck.

Ed

I'm about to build one myself, if you look at the lower part kits on "Cheaper than dirt" I think the DPMS product summary has a video of some one installing it. I thought it looked helpful. I will find out when I actually buy the parts and start to build.
