How difficult is it to use an upper without m4 feed ramps?

I have an upper without m4 ramps, and looking to find a barrel, but I haven't found any in stock that don't have m4 somewhere in the description.

M4 feed ramps on the barrel, with none on the receiver is fine.

Rifle feed ramps on an M4 receiver is no good

BTW, the above was not made by me

Ok, my feeble mind is slightly confused. I think I'm reading it right.

The receiver does not have m4 feed ramps.

The barrel "potentially" will have m4 feed ramps.

The above combination is ok, correct.

Basically, the way I understand it, the receiver without the m4 feed ramps will work on a barrel with or without m4 feed ramps.

Am I right, or is my brain not comprehending the text correctly?

Yes, if the upper has no feed ramps milled into it, you can use either barrel extension.

If the upper has M4 feed ramps, you need a barrel extension with them or the nose of the bullet is going to get caught on the barrel extension

Possom813, you are correct! And if your rifle isn't an auto, you'll likely see no ill effects from using a rifle (no M4 ramps) upper receiver.
