The AR I'm fixing to get is a flat top, and comes without a carrying handle (for what I'm paying that's a fair deal). I'm mounting my EOtech on it, but I'm trying to decide what exactly to do in terms of BUIS.
I'm currently looking at two options:
1) Mount a carrying handle on it, and use a cantilever mount putting the EOtech out ahead of the handle in the traditional "scout" configuration. This really shouldn't affect too much as the EOtech has a huge field of parallax free view. The main issue is that the carrying handle is about $100 or so, and the mount is another $100 or so. That's about double what most BUIS cost.
2) Mount a BUIS in the normal configuration just aft of the EOtech. BUIS in this case run about $100 or so.
If anyone knows of a cantilever mount for cheaper I'd appreciate it, as I've not had much luck finding any.
Secondly I've decided that I'm going with fixed, rather then flip up BUIS. I've found several that I like, but I'm trying to decide what to go with.
Does anyone have any experience with the HK style diopter ones? Or heck HK diopter sights for that matter. Without a matching front globe sight, it's just a series of different sized apertures to look through, rather then a true diopter sight correct?
The main traditional BUIS that I'm looking at is the Lewis Machine and Tool A2 style site. From what I can tell it keeps the same elevation over the barrel as the normal A2 carrying handle does, which is what I'm used to. Does anyone have any experience with them, good or bad?
Does anyone have any recommendations on other BUIS or setups?
Thanks,
